Good Evening, I Rajesh Gangwar Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Department welcome Er. Subhash Mehra Sir, Trust Administrator, Prof. Dr. Prabhakar Gupta, Dean Academics SRMSCET, Dr. Piyush Garg, FDP coordinator, Mr. Mohammed Mustaqeem Sir, HOD of EN department, all the faculty members and all participants present over here in the valedictory session.

As we all now come to the end of five days FDP on Recent Trends in Power Electronics & Power Systems, I would like to take you through the brief summary of all the session.

The FDP was started at 9:30am on 11 July 2017 with the inaugural session in the presence of Honorable Chairman Sir Shri Dev Murti Ji, Trust Secretary Shri Aditya Murti Ji, Chief Guest Prof. Vishal kumar from IIT Roorkee, Dean Academics SRMSCET, Prof Dr. Prabhakar Gupta Sir, FDP coordinator Dr. Piyush Garg Sir and HOD of EN Department, Mr. Mohammed Mustaqeem Sir. Inaugural session was started by lightning of ceremonial lamp by all dignitaries present in the session and with Saraswati Vandana. After the welcome address by house of MOC Dr Ankita Tandan, we have presented badgets and plants as token of appreciation to all our dignitaries. We have presented PLANT in order to encourage plantation for green environment by Shri Ram Murti Trust.

After this a welcome address given by Prof. Dr Prabhakar Gupta Sir, then Mr. Mohammed Mustaqeem Sir HOD of EN department, addressed the objectives and abstract of the FDP. After this, Aditya Murti Sir, Trust secretary appreciated the program organized by EN Department in his speech.

Then Chief Guest Prof. Vishal kumar from IIT Roorkee in which he had given brief information about the importance and application of smart grid and green energy. After this the Honorable Chairman, Shri Dev Murti Sir encouraged the faculty members for such activities and emphasized on the benefits of such kind of resourceful events. He also gave his best wishes and shown support for this program. In the end of Inaugural session, Dr. Piyush Garg Sir, FDP coordinator proposed vote of thanks and gave his best wishes for the program.

After this we started the technical sessions for 5 days with lectures and lab sessions on each day.

The first session was taken by Dr. Vishal kumar, Associate professor, Electrical department, IIT Roorkee who delivered a keynote address on wide area management system in which he discussed the introductory part and its importance, phase measurement unit (PMU) its operation monitoring and control. In second session Dr. Vishal Kumar discussed the issues regarding the PMU installation for the power system protection and control. In last session Dr.Vishal explained the distributed generator importance, its working, methodology, application with power system protection.

In first session, an informative lecture delivered by Dr. Manoj Tripathi Sir, Associate professor from IIT Roorkee on overview of power system protection and control, power quality, reliability security modern energy management system, introduction of GSM Zignee based communication and its importance. In the second session Dr. Manoj Tripathi Sir, discussed signal processing techniques in smart grid, introduction of web based relay, numerical relay and its application. In third session, Dr. Manoj Tripathi Sir discussed flow chart and software modeling of digital relay and different types of model of relay. In the last session Dr. Manoj Tripathi, explained HMM based and back propagation based algorithm for transformer protection.

In the first session Professor Rizwan Khan from Aligarh Muslim University has illuminated us an overview of power electronics its history importance and applications. In second session Professor Rizwan Khan discussed types of converters working methodology, and digital method to control the torque and speed of the motor, after this he conducted a lab session on mat lab simulink with various examples. In the next third and fourth session professor Rizwan Khan explained the introduction of matrix converter and its importance with the help of simulink model.

In first session Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, Assistant Professor from Harcourt Butler Tech. University, Kanpur has taken a very interactive session on basics of power electronics like working of half wave, full wave single and three phase rectifiers with suitable examples and applications. He has also done few exercises in the lecture with the participants. In the second session Dr. Sanjiv Kumar conducted a lab session of different types of converters on MATLAB based simulink. In third session Dr. Sanjiv Kumar focused on multilevel inverters its types, working and applications. In the last session Dr. Sanjiv Kumar described simulink model of different types of multilevel inverters in detail. He also introduced the participants with his researches on multilevel inverters.

In first session Dr. Lal Bahadur Prasad, Assistant Professor from Madan Mohan Malviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur, discussed basics of systems and its modeling with various examples. In second session, Dr. Lal Bahadur Prasad Sir taken a lab session on MatLab Simulink. In Third Session he devoted his knowledge about Automatic generation control.


Outcome

All the sessions were very much informative. The discussed areas are of great benefit for participants as the topics match with their current working domain. Participants were enlightened with the most widely used advance techniques in this domain. This in turn will help in their research activity.
