Department of Mathematics, Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology organized a National Seminar on “Importance of Glossary in Mathematical Science and Technical Education along with its Application” on 28– 29 July 2017.
The function began by invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and lighting of lamp. The dignitaries on the dais were welcomed by Professor Prabhakar Gupta, Dean, Academics, Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly. The Chief Guest was Professor Avanish Kumar, Chairman, Commission for Scientific & Technical Terminology, MHRD, New Delhi. In his speech Professor Kumar provided significant information about the aim and purpose of the commission. He said the use of Hindi is not only required to make more people understand research, but also for giving Hindi better recognition. Sharing the need to use Hindi terminology for doing research work, he discussed the dictionaries and magazines published by CSTT. He wished his best for the seminar. Presiding the session Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, addressed the gathering and talked about the importance of Hindi in our everyday and professional lives. He said Hindi is not just an Indian language – it is required in every field of the system.Then Trust Secretary Shri Aditya Murti ji spoke about the standards of SRMS and the need to organize such seminars in the institute. He welcomed all the participants and wished them well. The quarterly journal Vigyan Garima Sindhu(No. 102) was unveiled by the dignitaries present on the dais.
In Session I Professor P.N. Pandey, Former Head of Department of Mathematics, Allahabad University, spoke on “Evolution and Developments of different Geometries”. He emphasized: “to start any thought process there should be some historical notes to clear the objective of the researcher of the theorem”. He talked about the importance of geometry from ancient to the present time. He discussed the research work of ancient Greek scholars like Plato and Aristotle. He shared that 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries are considered important periods for geometry.
In Session II, the first invited talk was delivered by Professor G.S. Khadekar, Head of Department of Mathematics, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, on “Dark Energy and Dark Matter in the Universe and Evolution of Universe”. The next invited talk was given by Dr. Samarjit Kar, National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, on “Computational and Shortest Path Problems”. He also shared information on the complexities of shortest path problems.
On Day 1, 6 papers were presented and discussed.
In Session III, on Day 2, Professor G.C. Sharma spoke on “Tumour Problem and its Mathematical Solution”. He also discussed medical treatments of tumour problem using optimization techniques. Next Dr. Madhu Jain, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, IIT Roorkee and a well-known researcher in Mathematics, gave a very informative lecture.
In this session 8 papers were presented.
In Session IV, the first invited talk was given by Dr. Sudhanshu Agarwal, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi. This lecture was followed by the invited talk of Dr. Sameer Sharma, Head of Department of Mathematics, D.A.V. College, Jalandhar, who spoke on “Soft Computing and Fuzzy Logic Controllers”.
In the valedictory session,Professor Avanish Kumar, Professor G.C. Sharma, Professor G.S. Khadekar, Dr. B.K. Singh, Dr. Kamlendra Kumar, and Dr. Anju Khandelwal graced the dais. The session started by welcoming the guests and presenting them with gifts. Dr. Anju Khandelwal then read the seminar report. Chief Guest for the Valedictory Session Professor G.S. Khadekar shared his experience of the seminar and talked about the importance of such events at higher level institutions. Happy with the arrangements and presentations, he further motivated the students. Professor Avanish Kumar, Chairman, CSTT conveyed his thanks to the college management for organizing the seminar and talked about the future plans of the commission. He also congratulated the participants and the organizing team for the successful seminar. Then Dr. Kamlendra Kumar delivered the Vote of Thanks. The session closed with the National Anthem.
