Abhishek was a rank opener in the year 2007 and had a 1048 rank globally in the UPTU university entrance exam for MCA. Based on this rank, he could have opted for any of the colleges in NCR but chose Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly for its reputation and strict discipline.

As it turns out, the decision worked out exactly as he had planned. “It turned out to be the perfect decision for me to choose SRMS CET among more than 100 colleges offering MCA in UPTU University,” he reflects. Abhishek is in an ideal position to evaluate the quality of the SRMS CET MCA given that he had completed his BCA and M.Tech from BITS Pilani. “Despite all my accomplishments, I admire the versatile knowledge and skillset of my MCA HOD Mr. Anuj Kumar the most,” he adds.

The emphasis on deep learning is proven by the many opportunities given to students like Abhishek. He clearly remembers his Subject of Research (SOR) where he was required to do research with the help of faculty and then approach various conferences to present the research work. Such activities during MCA helped students to develop rigour in their learning. Firstly, the emphasis is on teaching the curriculum in an interactive manner; secondly, students are exposed to the latest technologies and software before they become industry standard.

Abhishek counts the many technical fests and competitions organized by SRMS CET to be great learning opportunities. “During my 3 years of tenure at SRMS I won as many as 12 prizes within and outside SRMS Institutions. Not just participation, I also developed an Online Quiz System which was in use by many departments to help in evaluating knowledge. Such extracurricular activities like competitions to develop software and robotics competitions improve the potential of a student to accomplish more when he or she enters the professional world.” he reminisces. Such exposure helped him to follow a competitive spirit even in IT Industry in order to excel.

One of the key pillars of the institute is the faculty, according to Abhishek. Additionally, the infrastructure in terms of the impressive library, numerous computer labs and world-class auditorium makes SRMS stand out amongst many other private colleges.

All these factors have combined to provide Abhishek with sustained career growth. “From SRMS CET, I got placed in an energetic startup in Lucknow for an annual package of Rs 3 lacs. And, it took me less than 6 years to make it 30 lacs in my current role working in a Netherlands based company named Xpirit. This is thanks to the competence that my institute imbibed in me,” he reflects. “Microsoft is one of my favorite companies and I still remember my MCA HOD because he is known for his knowledge of Algorithms, which is actually one of the toughest subjects of MCA and B.Tech and always a hot interview topic with big companies like Microsoft and Google. I could crack it only because of his expert teaching.”

In terms of advice to juniors, Abhishek feels that they should master programming and algorithms during their tenure at college, which improves their analytical ability to solve tough and real-time problems of the IT industry. For these and all other needs, he would highly recommend the MCA program at SMRS to aspirants who want to make a career in the field. According to him, the program is well connected with the industry standards and ultimately it helps students a lot to shape their career in best way, as it clearly did with him!
