An Industrial Tour was organized by Faculty of Management Science, Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology (SRMS CET), Bareilly to provide experiential learning to the students on 25th March 2017. Students of MBA and MCA programs along with faculty members participated in this tour to Gupta H.C. Overseas (I) Pvt Ltd.
Gupta H C Overseas is a leather footwear manufacturing company. Students were welcomed for their orientation by Mr Rahul Jain (HR Manager). He outlined the customer and employee oriented philosophy of the company and how it adheres to the best principles in these areas. He also explained how the Company balances its business and manufacturing activities with its impact on the communities and people at large. This core philosophy of ‘Customers and Employees Before Product’ has been imbibed by all the employees from the top level executives to lower level personnel across the company.
After the excellent orientation, students were divided into 3 Groups for hands on experience of production and operation processes. Each group was led by line managers; they showed and explained the various production processes in the factory. The Production process visit started with the raw material section to preparing the patterns, stamping, marking, clipping, moulding, trimming, two stage inspection and then on to finished goods (Sandals and Boots) that were ready for export.
It took almost two hours to complete the in-house visit. Queries of the students were handled by the expert managers of the company at the end. Students thus got a chance to correlate their theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Along with industrial visit, students also visited the Taj Mohatsav (cultural fair) at Taj Mahal and Agra fort where they got to learn concepts of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Besides this, they also got an exposure to culture, history, diversity and heritage of India at the historic sites.
