Pharmacy students in their sixth semester at College of Pharmacy under Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly went on a highly informative trip to Haridwar on 4th of March. They had the privilege of visiting two leading names in the pharmaceutical industry, Themis Medicare Pvt. Ltd. and Unimarck Healthcare Ltd. The companies located in Sidcul area of Haridwar offered students insight into different operations and functions involved in pharmaceutical industry.
Their faculty members, Mr. Vijay Sharma and Miss. Priyanka Bhatt were the guiding lights for the day trip, which began with the visit to Themis Medicare. Students were briefed by the HR Head, Assistant Store Manager and Production Head of the unit. From the storage of raw material to processes like de-cartoning, washing, drying, filling, sealing, and inspection of vials and ampoules, students got the firsthand experience they were looking for.
The group then headed to Unimarck Healthcare Ltd where they were taken through different steps in manufacturing, storage and packaging. As the company manufactures tablets, capsules, injections, ear drops they got to witness processes like granulation, compression and coating of tablets. The group also had an interaction session with the production head of the unit, who took time to answer all their queries.
It was a fruitful day for the students as they learned the inside outs of the functions involved in the pharmaceutical industry. They had an opportunity to look at some of the traditional and the new age automated processes that are involved in manufacturing. Their experience was capped by the interactions with the professionals working in the field. They went back with several takeaways that will not only help their internships but future careers as well.
