Students of Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly and College of Engineering Technology & Research, Bareilly put on their sporting shoes and made their presence felt at the State Level Sports Meet organized by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University on the 21st and 22nd of February. The two-day extravaganza was held at Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad, and it brought together some of the best talents in various sporting arenas. Amongst them were SRMS students who had excelled in the previously held zonal meet.

In fact, students from the institute had returned from the zonal meet with a bagful of medals. It had gained them entry into the highly anticipated State Level Meet where the stakes were already high. But the magnitude of the event did not deter the students, who made an impact in a wide range of sporting activities including Athletics, Table Tennis, Badminton and Chess.

Competing against some of the best in the state, Manisha Pandey, SRMS CETR student, won three silver medals in the 100 metre, 200 metre sprints and high jump. Kriti Mohan bagged the silver in the 800 metre race. SRMS CET students Komal Midha and Shobha Rajput won the silver in Table Tennis and Shubham Saxena earned the bronze in the boy’s High Jump event.

Thus, with seven medals, students of the institutes made a good impression, both of themselves and their institutes, at the event. And, in a clear sign that they made their colleges proud, Mr. Santosh Khare, Dean – Students Welfare, congratulated the students for winning the medals and representing their colleges with a lot of pride and in the best sporting spirit.

After all, the meet was not just a competition but also a medium to instill a sporting attitude amongst the young minds in the country. Besides their sporting prowess, easy camaraderie was on display as students from different colleges cheered each other on. The success of SRMS students also stood testimony to efforts of the institutes to enhance their overall growth as individuals.
