Varsha Gupta, student of Computer Science, Batch 2014–2018 at SRMS CET, Bareilly believes that her college has helped her grow tremendously. She remembers the time she came to SRMS as a shy and nervous student. Today she feels confident about expressing herself and is raring to enter the professional world next year. “I have learned so much from the experiences at my college, the seminars I have attended, and the exposure I have got. I believe I have developed into a confident person, who has different facets to her personality.”

Industry relevance of the program

Varsha asserts that the B. Tech program at her institute is in keeping with the requirements of the industry. The new-age curriculum keeps students abreast of the latest developments in the field. Importantly, there is equal emphasis on theoretical learning and practical knowledge, which makes studying fun. “We work on projects and develop software under guidance. We have access to the best facilities in the lab to complement the learning. There are value added programs that no other college offers and they give us cutting-edge advantage.”

Home away from home

According to Varsha, she instantly felt comfortable and at home when she came to SRMS. The college boasts of state-of-the-art facilities, which make all the difference to students’ comfort. Her favourite spot on campus might be the canteen, but she calls her hostel her second home. “There are so many special moments that I have spent here. You have all the facilities you want, including ATM and salon to groom yourself. I also like the garden area around the hostel as I can sit here after a long day in college and unwind with my friends.”

Making the most out of her student years

Varsha is focused on her academics but also wants to make the most of her college years. On one hand there are academic clubs like Equinox that host workshops to make her industry-ready, on the other there are cultural clubs offering platforms to showcase her talents. She is also thriving in the city of Bareilly, which allows her to enjoy her student years. “Unlike metropolitan cities, Bareilly is not crowded and there are many fun avenues for us. We can go out, explore our favourite spots, and return to campus without worrying about security.”

Displaying her sporting attitude

Varsha is an avid sportsperson. She has played basketball at the district and state levels, and appreciates the facilities SRMS offers to pursue her love for the sport. “We have a modern basketball court, which is lit up at night for practice. I was the captain at the district level when we lost a match. But we didn’t quit. We won the next time and played the state-level match.” This never-give-up winner’s attitude is being further honed at SRMS to bring out the best in her.
