Management aspirants at Shri Ram Murti Smarak International Business School (SRMS IBS), Lucknow had the rare opportunity to listen to Mr. Prashant Verma, a seasoned HR professional and a respected name in the industry. In his long and prolific career he has worked with top brands and held important positions, including at Denso (Toyota Group) and at KPMG Consulting India as Vice President, HR and Strategy. He has certifications in Six Sigma Black Belt, Blue Ocean Strategy, and PRINCE 2. He was on campus to deliver a Guest Lecture as part of the Industry Engagement Activities hosted by the B-School.
SRMS IBS believes in offering students insights into real-world corporate functioning. The guest lecture series focuses on different streams of management with leading industry names sharing their experiences. Mr. Verma is a renowned HR professional, who understands the industry inside out. He shared his knowledge about different aspects of the stream, in what was an interactive and eye-opening session for the students. He began with the hiring processes of companies, the parameters they use, and the competencies they look for.
Mr. Verma then helped students understand different job descriptions so that they can make the best decisions for their careers. He piqued their interest as he shed light on the selection procedures for management students. What made the talk truly helpful was the fact that he also offered students tips on cracking written tests and group discussions. Students also learned how to prove themselves in Technical and HR interviews. He then highlighted the importance of placement preparation through case studies and SIPs and by focusing on personality development.
What happens after students get placed at the end of their program? How to sustain the head start one has in the corporate career? Mr. Verma took students through different stages of their professional life with emphasis on changing industry demands and its curve. He also gave them tips on how to excel and make a place for themselves in the highly competitive corporate world. It was a comprehensive session replete with valuable insights for students. Of course, students also had a lot of questions, which were answered by the esteemed speaker. Overall, a truly fruitful session.
