The hard work had paid off and there was a lot to cheer about for the students. They are making their way into the professional world on a strong footing.

Top recruiters like ICICI Securities and Berger Paints from previous placement seasons had returned to hire industry-ready students from campus this year. At the same time new names including Zain Communication, Nestle India, IndusInd Bank, and ITC were added to the growing list of recruiting companies. Interesting trends this year: placement in Banking and Financial Services were on a high and interesting profiles offered to students included Sports Leader by Decathlon and Sales and Marketing for Industrial Goods by Lesso India.

Pleased with the showing this year, Mr. Siddiq Aazam (Placement Head, SRMS IBS) summarizes the overall performance: ‘The placement statistics has greatly improved in terms of salary packages and the profiles offered to students. We have also experienced a significant advancement in conversion ratios. Percentage of students receiving multiple job offers is also on the rise.’

The placement cell of the B-School plays a big role here. To ensure students are exposed to exciting new opportunities, the placement cell focuses on building long-term relationships with corporate companies. Internships and live projects are part of the robust industry engagement program. At the same time, industry visits, seminars, guest lectures, practical simulation sessions, and a host of other initiatives are taken up to train students for demanding professional roles and responsibilities.

Mr. Aazam also talks about Industry and Company Analysis (ICA) sessions for students post internship. A specialized session, the ICA covers industry and company analysis of past and prospective recruiters. Here students gain vital industry and company focused knowledge and insights on skill sets highly regarded across businesses and organizations. He shares, ‘Students also undergo training to make impressive resumes, crack group discussions and mock interviews, perform well in aptitude tests, and excel in email writing and soft skills.’

The B-School has additional initiatives to boost employability skills keeping an eye on the future. The placement cell also consistently works to strengthen the recruiter base. The all-round efforts give students superior advantage. Indeed, good news for future aspirants. Mr. Aazam points out the biggest trend of the placement season when he says, ‘Students who got early placements had industry specific certifications. For example, the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance sector preferred students with National Institute of Securities Markets certification.’ He believes this gives students the edge during placements and helps them to build successful careers in the long run.
