DEPARTMENT OF ANAESTHESIA

The department of anaesthesiology, critical care and pain management is one of the largest departments of the institution. It has been consistently providing holistic education, ensuring academic excellence and quality surgical output. The department comprises 16 faculty members and 18 post graduate students. All post graduate students of the 1st and 2nd batches have received their M.D. degree and 6 seats have been recognized by the MCI. The faculty is highly dedicated to teaching and totally motivated towards 24 x 7 care inside the OT for elective and emergency surgery.

The post graduate students of the department have undergone ACLS/BLS training and are AHA certified ACLS/BLS providers. They are thus the ‘resuscitation officers’ of the institute. Various ACLS/BLS training and “code blue” programs have also been organized by the department, which have benefited many doctors and have improved the verall quality of patient care.

The various other areas in which the department is providing ‘standard of care’ are:

  • Fiberoptic bronchoscopy for difficult intubation.
  • USG guided nerve blocks for therapeutic purposes.
  • C-arm guided nerve blocks for pain management.
  • High end surgeries – including one lung ventilation.
  • Outside OT care to –

    • Radio diagnosis suite
    • Cath – lab
    • IVF lab
    • Radiotherapy suite
    • Pain clinic
    • ICU
