SRMS celebrates World Pharmacists Day with a host of activities

Inspired by the theme of this year’s World Pharmacists Day – ‘Pharmacists: Your medicines experts’ – the Pharmquimica Club in College of Pharmacy at Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly organized a series of activities on 25 September.

The event on 25 September started with the tribute to Goddess Saraswati. The traditional lighting of the lamp was led by the assembled dignitaries: Mr. Dev Murti (Chairman, SRMS Trust), Mr. Subhash Mehra (Administrator, SRMS Trust), Dr. Prabhakar Gupta (Dean, Academics), Dr. Lalit Singh (Director, Pharmacy), Dr. SP Gupta (Principal, IMS), and Ms. Deepa Rani (Principal, Nursing).

Dr. Lalit Singh welcomed the gathering. Noting that doctors alone cannot treat patients without help from pharmacists and paramedicals, he encouraged students to become expert pharmacists. In his speech, Dr. Prabhakar Gupta reached out to the budding pharmacists and asked them to productively use their time. Mr. Subhash Mehra shared with students it was in Istanbul that the celebration of World Pharmacists Day began and the day is celebrated across the world on 25 September. Led by Dr. Lalit Singh, students pledged to serve the nation to the best of their abilities.

In his address, Mr. Dev Murti inspired students to set higher goals and take appropriate action to achieve those goals. He advised students to imbibe knowledge and remain focused on research. Then Mr. Shailendra Kumar Verma thanked the dignitaries for giving their valuable time on the day.

After the inaugural ceremony got over, Pharmquimica Club hosted a series of contests to celebrate World Pharmacists Day.

Poster Presentation:

This event was meant to present the work undertaken by a pharmacist and encourage people to know more about the role a pharmacist plays in society.

Winners: Saiyam Agarwal and Vardhman Jain (1st position), Rishab Parasar and Sajal Saran (2nd position), and Amar Anand and Ashutosh Gangwar (3rd position)

Aavishkarak:

This was a problem solving activity using ideas that involved the presentation of a working or non-working model.

Winners: Shruti Vashista and team members (1st position), Sarthak Gupta and team members (2nd position), and Mudassir Shah and team members (3rd position)

Sales Maniac:

This activity helped to demonstrate skills in formulating marketing strategy and selling medicines to customers.

Winners: Amar Anand and Ashutosh Gangwar (1st position), Mohit Gupta and Samra (2nd position), and Shashank Mishran and Kirti Rawat (3rd position)

Spotlight Fight:

This event offered the platform to display abilities in cultural activities, mainly drama, mime, singing, and dancing.

Winners: AAS group (1st position), Poojya Khanna and team members (2nd position), and Priya Thapa and Huda Khan (3rd position)
