Funded Projects

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SRMS CET, Bareilly has been sanctioned Rs. 20 lacs by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for the up-gradation and modernization of its Microwave laboratory under the MODROB scheme under the supervision of Dr. Akhilendra Yadav and Dr. M. M. Jha. A high standard testing facility will be created to test, specify, and approve electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) of electrical and electronics products in line with the Government regulatory agencies. All electrical equipmentsproduce energy in air as radiated emission and conducted through power lines and cables by conducted emission disturb other equipment’s working in the vicinity. It also affects human health. There is a link between exposure to Electromagnetic field and increasing the rate of leukemia, cancer and tumor. The electromagnetic waves influence brain tumors as billions of people use cell phone close to brain tissue.

EMI/EMC has been important due to the increasing speed and use of digital electronics. The governments all over the world have imposed limits on the radiated and conducted noise emissions of electrical and electronics products.

This laboratory will be helpful to the researchers and practicing engineers to find various methods of interference mitigation. This lab will also be used for certification of equipment in and around Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand region.

Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRMS CET, Bareilly has been received a grant of Rs. 2.5 lacs by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University for a project entitled “To study application of GMAW process in dissimilar welding of materials for desired properties.” under the supervision of Dr. Ravindra Kumar and Mr. Ashish Kumar. The grant was sanctioned under the VRPS scheme.

The dissimilar welding of materials by GMAW process has number of advantages that primarily include intended operation at relatively low heating, less distortion of substrate and precise control of thermal cycle and isotherm leading to necessary phase transformation and microstructure. The primary importance of the project is to explore the system of controlled use of GMAW process in dissimilar welding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials with desired profile for its higher mechanical properties as compared to that obtained by other welding techniques in conventional GTAS or other surface modification techniques. The characterization of improvement in properties of substrate is primarily defined by its characteristic properties resulting in longer life with higher service capacity and safety. The essential properties proposed to be studied in this regard are as metallurgical, chemical, hardness and tensile and corrosion properties. The knowledge can be used in various industries including electronic, space, petrochemical, turbine manufacturing, air craft and submarine manufacturing industries.
