In order to enhance the quality of classroom delivery of academic programme being run and foster a better ecosystem for research & innovation in the institutions, a five days Faculty Development Programme from 27th Jan to 31st Jan 2016 on “Recent Trends in Instrumental Methods for Drug Analysis” been sponsored by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Tech. University, Lucknow, wide VC office order no. AKTU/VCO/2015/7209 dated: 14 December 2015, has been organized by SRMS CET Pharmacy, Bareilly.

Letter of invitation were send to all Pharmacy colleges in U.P., for the participation. The response was encouraging; more than 30 faculties registered their name for participation. Thirteen renowned and eminent speakers from different parts of the country elevated, the entire event by delivering their talks in different realms of Research on Instrumentation.

On 27th January 2016, Programme started with the Inaugral Ceremony which was led by Chairman SRMS Trust, Shri Dev Murti., Prof. M. Ali was the Chief Guest and Dr. Nisha Sharma was the Guest of honour for the occasion. Various eminent persons from different cadres viz Shri Aditya Murti (Trust Secretory), Er. Subhash Mehra (Trust Administrator), Dr. Prabhakar Gupta (Principal CET), Prof. Jagannath Sahoo (Director Pharmacy), Dr. A. K. Srivastav (Principal WCET), All Heads of various departments from CET, assured their presence.

In the I session on 27th Jan, Prof. Mohamad Ali from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi engaged the session on NMR and its interpretation. II session was based on practical by Dr. M. M. Abdullah “Hand on U.V Instrument: Drug Analysis on marketed preparations as per Indian Pharmacopoeia”. In III session Dr. Nisha Sharma, from Kanpur University, delivered the speech on trouble shooting in GLC & HPLC.

On 28th Jan Dr. M.M. Abdullah from SRMS CET, Bareilly spoken about Mass Spectrometry and in the afternoon there was lecture cum practical demonstration on Gel Electrophoresis by eminent scientist Dr. Tapas Goswami from IVRI, Bareilly.

On 29th Jan Dr. Mumtaz Alam from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi explained theory, instrumentation and applications of FT-IR Spectrophotometry followed by hands on training on FT-IR by Dr. Shaquiq Uzzaman from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. The afternoon session was led by Dr. Shaquiq Uzzaman from Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi on practical aspects of NMR. Last session of the day was taken by Dr. Jagannath Sahoo, on Formulation, Interaction & Stability of Drugs.

On 30th Jan forenoon Session was taken by industry expert, Dr. H. N. Kushwaha from Teva API Ltd. who demonstrated how UV can affect cosmeticology & Dr. Anuradha Mishra from Integral University, Lucknow, who talked on HPTLC its importance in drug analysis. The afternoon session was engaged by Dr. Sayed Ahmad from Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi who spoke on Basics of LCMS & Mr. P. P. Das from Amity Univesity, Lucknow, who spoke on GC.

On 31st Jan morning Session was engaged by Prof. J. Sahoo from SRMS CET, Bareilly who spoke on Job Responsibilities, qualities of an effective teacher.

The programme ended with an evaluation & feedback session follow by valedictory address by Prof. J. Sahoo. On this occasion chairman SRMS Trust Sri Dev Murti, Shri Aditya Murti (Trust Secretory), Er. Subhash Mehra (Trust Administrator), Dr. Prabhakar Gupta (Principal SRMS CET), Prof. Jagannath Sahoo (Director Pharmacy), Dr. A. K. Srivastav (Principal SRMS WCET), All Heads of various departments of SRMS CET, grace the occasion with their presence throughout the valedictory programme. All the faculty delegates and participants appreciated the vision of the university and realized that yes there is a need for the FDP and it will definitely help all of us. At the end of the programme certificates of participation were distributed to all the participants.

The programme was enlightening towards developing ourself to be a good teacher/counsellor.
