The five days Faculty Development Programme on “Microsystems & Advanced Semiconductor Devices” organized by department of ECE and sponsored by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow under TEQIP-III has been successfully conducted in SRMSCET from 3rd July – 7th July 2018. It received an overwhelming response with 57 participants.

The program was inaugurated at 9:30 am in New Seminar Hall on 3rd July 2018 with lightening of Lamp by hands of Trust Administrator, Er. Subhash Mehra, Dean Academics- Prof. (Dr.) Prabhakar Gupta, HOD ECE Mrs. Nazia Parveen & guest of honor Prof. (Dr.) Satyabrata Jit from IIT BHU. All the guests & dignitaries were welcomed by offering plants to them.

The Dean Academics-Prof. (Dr.) Prabhakar Gupta welcomed all the dignitaries & he shared his views with participants that main focus of this program is to enhance the teaching & research methods.

HOD ECE Mrs. Nazia Parveen briefly mentioned the outlines of FDP & subjects chosen for FDP & highlighted the reasons and importance of same.

The guest of honor Prof. Satyabrata Jit in his address focused on very basic idea of motivating students to achieve specific goals.

It was followed by address of Trust Administrator- Er. Subhash Mehra who stated the importance of teachers by stating the example of education system of Finland.

After this the guest of honor Prof. Satyabrata Jit was presented a memento by Trust Administrator- Er. Subhash Mehra as a token of gratitude. The inaugural program ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Anuj Agarwal.

In first technical session of FDP, resource person Prof. Satyabrata Jit shared his knowledge on advances in MOS Transistors: Issues & challenges.

His talk helped in understanding the fundamentals of MOSFET which created interest among participants.

In 2nd Session, Mr. Anand Maurya Project Engg. Sofcon Pvt. Ltd delivered his talk on IoT & its applications.

On 2nd day of FDP, Prof. Aloke Dutta from IIT- Kanpur gave an interactive lecture on ‘MOSFET Modeling’. He explained latest technology available in field of semiconductor & focused on reasons behind every phenomenon. He generated interest among the participants for every fact and suggested we must know “why” the facts are like that.

In the 2nd session, Dr. Sudeb Dasgupta, Associate Prof. from IIT Roorkee delivered his talk on ‘Low Power VLSI Design’. He told about various power dissipation techniques that occur in VLSI Design & various methods to reduce it.

The first session was taken by Dr. S. Das Gupta in continuation to previous discussion in which he focused on recent research in FinFET device design. He also briefed about latest advancements in design of ultra-low power medical implants. In this session participants gained the knowledge of low power requirement in present scenario. He inspired participants to work on real time biomedical system. This session was very enlightening for faculty participants of B. Pharma Department as well.

In post lunch session Prof. B.R. Singh from IIIT Allahabad illuminated on ‘Microelectronic Technology’. In this session participants were familiarized with different steps of fabrication. He also showed a microscopic view of fabricated IC.

On 4th day Dr. Santosh Kumar Gupta, Associate Prof. from MNNIT Allahabad deliberated ‘Multi-gate MOSFET Modeling’ & about advancements in nano technology in session-1

In 2nd session Mr. Ankur Sangal, Senior Application Engineer from CoreEL Technologies briefed the architecture of 7 series-FPGA. He gave guidelines about Xilinx Vivado tool with the help of suitable example to generate a bitstream file to be burned on FPGA.

On the last day of FDP the lab session was continued by Mr. Ankur Sangal on Xilinx Vivado tool. In this session participants designed combinational & sequential logic circuits such as adders, counters etc. and dumped the program on Zed-Board. During the hands-on session participants participated took keen interest.

This last session was valediction of FDP. In this session MOC Ms. Ankita Gupta welcomed all dignitaries, guests & participants. The report of five days FDP was read by Mr. Deepak Kumar (Ass. Prof. ECE).The certificate distribution to participants was done by the Dean Academics Prof. Prabhakar Gupta, Trust Administrator Er. Subhash Mehra, HOD ECE Mrs. Nazia Parveen. The session ended with vote of thanks by Mr. Sovan Mohanty (Ass. Prof. ECE).
