It is an opportune time to harness solar energy in an efficient way. Solar energy is free of cost, green in nature and abundantly available, but as a matter of fact it is intermittent in nature. Thus while designing a system based on solar thermal technology an utmost care is to be taken regarding its exergy or say second law efficiency along with internal heat & mass transfer of the system. As on date a number of devices such as solar dryers, water heaters etc are working either on partially or completely based on solar energy for meeting short demand. There is an urgent need to make them operative for large demand as well as to obtain nocturnal productivity from solar thermal devices. This can be achieved firstly by detailing the energy balance and tracking the destruction of energy inside or outside the system and secondly by adding some virtual source of energy to store extra amount of energy in sunshine hours which can be used in off sunshine hours.

Present seminar on “Advancement in Solar Thermal Technologies” shall host technical discussion based on the advances, optimization and thermal analysis of following devices (indicatively but not limited to) based on solar thermal technology:

THEME

  • Solar Desalination Technique
  • Solar Dryers
  • Solar water Heaters
  • Solar Collectors
  • Energy Storage (Sensible, Latent and mix mode)
