In Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology, Bareilly one day national seminar on Microwave and Milimeter Wave Technology was conducted successfully on 30th MARCH 2019 with a very good response of 124 registrations.

The inaugural session started with Dweep Prajwalan and Saraswati Vandana followed by presentation of Saplings and badges to dignitaries. A very motivating welcome speech was given by Engineer Subhash Mehra, Chairman of Institute of Engineers Bareilly Local Centre and SRMS Trust Administrator. This was followed by the address from Mrs Nazia Parveen, HOD ECE and Convener of the program, who explained the seminar theme with its necessity and application in today’s era. The next part was a very inspirational speech by Professor Dr Prabhakar Gupta, Dean Academics and Engineer Suresh Sundrani, Member of Board of Governors (SRMS Trust).

To continue the session, further address was given by the Guest of Honour, Dr A.K. Gautam of G.B. Pant Institute of Engineering and Technology, who introduced everyone to the challenges of millimeter waves, as their corresponding instruments are so small that they cannot be seen by our naked eyes and he further went on to explain the subject in details later in the first session. Further, Respected Chairman, Shri Dev Murti Ji showed his heartfelt support by a great and moving speech. The inaugural session concluded with presentation of mementos and vote of thanks by Co-convener of the program, Mr Sovan Mohanty.

The first session was started by Dr A.K. Gautam who delivered a lecture on Multi-Band Antenna Design for automative applications. He introduced to few technologies like SDARS and GPS and their corresponding antenna requirements. He continued by gradually showing us various antenna designs, their corresponding performances with both measured and simulated results.

The second session was conducted by Mr Sovan Mohanty of ECE Department, who initiated a detailed discussion on Dielectric Resonator Antenna for modern wireless communication. He explained beautifully the motivation of the subject and discussed the basics required before continuing with the topic.

The third session of the seminar was conducted by Dr Amalendu Patnaik, Professor IIT Roorkee, who delivered a talk on Antenna solution for high data rate communication. He had a very interactive session with the students about the assumptions made by communication engineers, the problems and challenges faced by antenna engineers in real life and how to implement them. He also explained about antenna solutions for ultra wide band (UWB) communication and the MIMO system.

Thus, a very interactive and successful one day National seminar was conducted which will prove to be very useful and helpful for the students interested in the field of Microwave and Antenna.
