The programme was started by Mr. Sumit Saxena – Faculty SRMS CETR, Basic Science Department who gave a brief introduction about the S.R.M.S. trust & its institutions right from its inception, covering all major milestones to its present status. He also explained the purpose of Campus outreach programme by highlighting on various issues on which the students should start thinking actively.

The programme was conducted in workshop mode and it started with an interesting open ended question like

  • Do you always do what your heart says or Is your decision influenced by your friends, family and parents ?
  • Are you really interested in subjects you study?
  • If given opportunity to make your own combination of subjects what combinations would you prefer?

Discussion itself was eye-opening as many students accept that they love arts but studying science just due to their parents influence. Many students say that they love maths but hate trigonometry part due to which they did not opt mathematics.

Taking lead from these questions Lecture focus on important issues which young students face in today’s time like what stream should I opt after my school education? Should I opt the field in which I am interested or should I opt the streams which have more opportunities? Should I go for private education outside the country or should I study in my own country only? What would be the alternative if don’t get selected in IIT? What is life beyond IIT? What skills I require to become business person or entrepreneur?

All these issues were discussed and lecture was conducted more in a discussion mode instead of monologue classroom type speech. Students come up with their real issues and pressure they are feeling from society to perform well.

Further, Mr. Ankit Kumar (Faculty SRMS CET) shared some key concepts like self introspection, personality assessment, individual SWOT analysis which help the students finding their true potential.

Also discussion was held on different types of exams available based on individual skills and competency, especially those exams which are uncommon and students are not aware about.

Comprehensively Students of the school found the workshop really fruitful and shown their enthusiasm and eagerness to attend such lectures in future also. The session came to its end by a motivational words of Mr. sumit Saxena “ ladkhadate hai pair jinke , unko kabhi rasta nahi milta , aur hote hai jinke hausle buland , unko raste pe khada Himalaya bhi nahi dhikta”.
