Industrial visits provide the students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. It gives the students an exposure to current work practices as opposed to theoretical and technical knowledge being taught at their college classrooms.
The objective of an industrial visit is to provide students with an insight into the corporate world. It provides students with a practical real-world perspective on different functions in organizations such as Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, Logistics, etc.
So to keep this in mind training and placement cell of SRMS CET, Bareilly arranged an industrial visit for Mechanical Engineering 2nd & 3rd year students at NE Railway, Izzatnagar, Bareilly on 14/10/2022.
The visit was started at 09:00 AM with welcome address of Mr. Shiv Kumar, SSE/BTC, NE Railway, Izzatnagar, Bareilly. Primarily he advised all the students to keep themselves safe as they will see so many operations live. He also suggested at any time any student can ask any kind of query about the process and the activities.
The visit started with the metallurgy section and after that students proceeded towards the site where heavy mechanical working was taking place. A number of processes and parts related to trains were defined and explained by the mentor. The students visited and learn the following mechanical engineering related things:
1. DEMU (Diesel Electrical Multiple Unit)
2. Ultra Sonic Testing
3. Wheel & Frame Assembling
4. Body Repairing
5. Air Brake Testing
6. Welding
7. Power Maintenance
8. Fabrication
9. POH of coaches
10. POH Of wagon
