The PET-CT Scan is a test that is done on a special PET-CT Machine which performs the 2 scans together:<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><b>PET Scan: <\/b> The Positron Emission Tomography or PET Scan component marks most actively upataking cells in the body. During the test, a small dosage of a Radioactive Tracers is injected into the patient. This molecule is an isotope which is actively uptaken by most active cancer cells in the body. The uptake of the tracer is measured by the PET scan component of PET\/CT scan, to highlight and mark most cancers.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><b>CT Scan: <\/b> The Computed Tomography or CT Scan is used for anatomical localisation of the body. A diagnostic quality CT Scan is performed along with the PET scan for the anatomical evaluation of the tests. Prior to the scan, all patients are given oral contrast (positive\/negative) to drink. Your fasting diabetes level under control to 160-170 mg\/dl.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  If you are or may be pregnant, be sure to tell our staff\/doctor before injecting radioactive medicine for PET-CT test.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  If you are breast-feeding a baby, in this test, a small amount of the radioactive chemical injected into the patient can be detected in the mother&#8217;s milk for some time after the test. If the mother has had a PET-CT, the baby should not be breastfed for 1 day after the scan. Patients should not bring young children and pregnant women with them.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i> <b>Total stay time required in the department for PET-CT scan will be approx. 3-4 hours. Kindly bring your food snacks etc. that can be given to patient after the scan <\/b>\tdone.<\/li><\/ul>\n<h4  class=\"h-custom-headline h4\" style=\"color:#4f4f4f;\"><span><b>Information about Scan Procedures<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul  class=\"x-ul-icons\" ><li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  It is a painless test .<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  First the diabetes level is checked after that a cannula is placed in the vein of the patient&#8217;s arm.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  Shortly before the PET-CT test, a type of radioactive chemical is injected, usually into the cannula in the arm vein.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  It takes at least 1 hour for this chemical to spread throughout the body. During this, the doctor forbids the patient to move and speak. And sitting separately in a solitary room is asked to drink water and urinate.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  During the examination, the patient can also be given an injection of dye into the vein for CT scan on the advice of the doctor.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  It may take 15-20 minutes for the machine to complete the test.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i> \tSome patients require sedation as per their medical condition, if so they will be informed about that and they need to give an informed consent prior to that.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  After the test, patients can take their food and all their medicines.<\/li>\n<li  class=\"x-li-icon\" ><i class=\" x-icon-arrow-right\"><\/i>  After reviewing the initial scan by the doctor of nuclear medicine and if needed, a delayed scan may be required in some cases, which will be taken after 1-2 hours and may take 5-10 minutes in scanning.<\/li><\/ul>\n<h4  class=\"h-custom-headline h4\" style=\"color:#4f4f4f;\"><span><b>Information after the PET-CT scan<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>You can go home and get back to your daily routine.
