Guest lecture organized in SRMSIBS on the topic “Falling in Love with yourself”

A guest lecture was organized in SRMSIBS on the topic “Falling in Love with yourself” on December 19, 2022. There were three resource persons for the session. The first guest was Mr. Narayan Kumar who is a dedicated and passionate cricketer specializing in left-arm spin bowling and aggressive lower-order batting. He had been a bowler at Washington Cricket League; Virginia, USA, Net Bowler, Mumbai Indians Camp; Delhi, Bowler, UP Under-19; Uttar Pradesh, and Bowler, CPL Camp; Barbados, West Indies. He is also the founder of, Cricket Counseling Institute in Lucknow. During his session he spoke about rules to finding out who you are, how to start your journey to pursue your passion. He talked about healthy competition, importance of failures in life, rationale for accepting your mistakes. Lastly he emphasized the fact that a sports can also build your character.
The second resource person was Ms. Gayatri Kumar who has graduated with distinction from Sarah Lawrence College where she pursued filmmaking and political science. She is an avid movie maker. She screened her two movies during the session. First movie “COFFINED AT 15”a short film that uses the cinematic symbol of a coffin to depict a child bride’s sorrow, and a musical battle to depict Taliban’s loss. Second movie “FINDING LULU” Shot in Kenya with actual Masai tribesman, “Finding Lulu” is a unique take on the issue of school shootings currently plaguing the United States. She has been reckoned by various awards like

The third resource person was Mr. Ritesh Rai who is a professional cricketer, fitness freak; he has been the best emerging player of Lucknow in 2016-17, Best Batsman in Siraj Hussain Memorial. His latest achievement was six sixes in Chandigarh League Match. He emphasized on training, hard work, patience and perseverance for success in life.
Overall it was a great session with a message that academics is important but it is also important to pursue your passion and dreams. There may be obstacles and challenges but eventually you can make it. The guest lecture was organized by Prof.( Dr.) Ekta Rastogi.
