‘AMPINC-CON 2022’ ENDS ON A SUCCESSFUL NOTE!

The Department of Radiation Oncology, RR Cancer Institute & Research Centre at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly conducted a 15th Annual Conference of Association of Medical Physicists of India Northern Chapter titled ‘AMPINC-CON 2022’ on December 17-18, 2022 at SRMS IMS on the theme ‘Techniques in Radiation Oncology—Past, Present and Future.
The two-day conference was a great academic feast for our next generation Medical Physicists, which was duly inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, who delivered special address to renowned Medical Physicists from 9 different cities of North India that participated in the National Conference. During the inaugural, Aditya Murti, Director Administration; Dr SB Gupta, Principal SRMS IMS; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent; Dr NK Arora, Vice-Principal; Dr Rohit Sharma, Dean PG; Dr SD Sharma, National President AMPI, Mumbai; Dr Ajay K Srivastav, Chairman Northern Chapter AMPI; Dr RK Bisht, Secretary AMPI, Jhajjar; Dr Piyush Kumar, Organizing Chairman, AMPINC-CON 2022; Jitendra Nigam, Organizing Secretary AMPINC-CON 2022 were present among many other dignitaries.
The conference was divided into nine sessions, wherein the guest speakers Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma (BARC Mumbai), Dr Rajesh A Kinhikar (TMH Mumbai) and Dr Tharmarnadar Ganesh (Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, New Delhi) undertook Session-1, and delivered views on the topics ‘Future Techniques of Radiation Oncology: Physics, Technology & Dosimetry’, ‘Proton Therapy setup in public sector—A journey till now’ and ‘Gap Correction—An update’ respectively. Thereafter, Professor Dr Lalit Mohan Aggarwal (BHU Varanasi) spoke on ‘My Journey as a Medical Physicist—Mistakes & Learning’ that was quite an interesting feed. Thereafter, Dr Raj Kishore Bisht (AIIMS, Jhajjar) and Dr Kamlesh Passi (MD Oswal Cancer Hospital, Ludhiyana) shared views on ‘Surface Guided Radiotherapy’. Dr Ajay K Srivastava (UCMS, New Delhi) and Dr Bhupendra Singh Rana (PGI, Chandigarh) also delivered respective addresses.
The feedback of the conference held, was quite promising wherein modern treatment techniques in radiation therapy were discussed ensuring treatment delivery. Conference also had important discussion on ‘Role of Medical Physicists in Artificial Intelligence Revolution’, which was very insightful. Both the days included oral and poster presentations by field experts and guest speakers. The two-day conference ended on a successful note, and was appreciated for its perfect organizing under the leadership and keen involvement of Shri Dev Murti.
