Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in association with BOGS is organizing a CME on “Critical care in Obstetrics-Present scenario and challenges” at SRMS IMS on 22nd Dec 2024.
Pregnancy is a unique condition as it has a maternal-fetal interface, that can affect two lives simultaneously. Critical Care in obstetrics involves managing and treating severe life-threatening conditions in pregnancy, delivery and post partum period, thereby ensuring safety of mother and baby. Early intervention, advanced technology and a skilled healthcare team reduces maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality, contributing to better Obstetric outcomes.

About the Institute
Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly, a mission conceptualised in year 2002 is the most modern 1200 bedded multi super speciality tertiary care hospital and a medical college, catering for health needs in a radius of 250 kms of Bareilly zone reaching up to farthest border towns of Uttarakhand and Nepal. DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY
The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been an integral part of this institute since its inception. We provide evidence-based treatment according to standard guidelines and cater as a tertiary care referral centre for wide area population in the Rohilkhand region. Our team of dedicated doctors handle life threatening emergencies, unprecedented number of deliveries even in unearthly working hours with ease and expertise. We are one of the most active departments of this institute running specialized clinics in high-risk pregnancy, infertility endocrinology, family welfare, cancer and menopause. SRMS IVF Centre is providing world class evidence-based care to infertile couple with promising results along with fertility preservation to cancer patients. Our department also provides its services as Regional Resource Training Centre (RRTC) and is a secretariat for western UPchapter of Indian Fertility Society
ABOUT CRITICAL CARE UNIT
Critical Care in Obstetrics is the specialized care given to antenatal ill pregnant and post partum / post-abortal patients, up to 6 weeks after termination of pregnancy. It provides multi-disciplinary approach to optimize and manage the life-threatening conditions of pregnancy like – hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, ante-partum or post-partum hemorrhage, sepsis, acute kidney injury (AKI), multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and different types of shock. The specialist team including Intensive care unit (ICU) Intensivist, Obstetrician, Obstetric-anesthetist, Physician, Radiologist, Cardiologist, Nephrologist, Pulmonologist, Pathologist and Transfusion Medicine are available 24 x 7 days at SRMS IMS, Bhojipura, Bareilly. Our Critical Care Unit is supported by ICU, which is accredited by Bureau Veritas as a platinum grade, consiting of 62 beds with all modern well-equipped facilities, is the integral part of our institute.
We, Obs & Gynae department along with dept of Pediatrics, Anesthesia and PSM are mentoring various doctors and nurses of near-by District hospitals (DH), Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centre (CHC) under Regional Resource Training Centre (RRTC) program supported by UPTechnical Support Unit (UPTSU) and Indian Health Action Trust (IHAT) to decrease maternal-neonatal morbidity and mortality.
