Conventionally, such cases leave only one option: urgent liver transplantation.<\/p>\n<p>Under the supervision of <strong>Dr Shivam Gupta (Consultant, Department of Gastroenterology, SRMS IMS)<\/strong>, the team explored both conservative medical treatment and liver transplant. However, medicines failed to show adequate response, while liver transplant posed major challenges due to its \u20b930 lakh cost, immediate donor requirement, and critical time constraints.<\/p>\n<p>At this crucial stage, Dr Shivam adopted the rare and highly specialized PLEX therapy in coordination with <strong>Dr Milan Jaiswal <\/strong>(Prof &amp; HOD) &amp; <strong>Dr Ujjwal Ahuja <\/strong>(Assistant Professor),<strong> Department of Transfusion Medicine, SRMS IMS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The patient underwent three consecutive PLEX sessions for 3 days. Soon after, she regained consciousness and was successfully removed from ventilator support the very next day. Today, she is stable, conscious, eating, walking, talking, and shifted to the ward.
