As the month of JULY is being designated as NationalOrgan Donation Monthby National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly has taken up July & August months to spread awareness about Organ Donation in Bareilly Region, covering both rural & urban communities.
In this regard, SRMS IMS in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine & Department of Ophthalmology has been conducting a series of impactful Awareness Activities regarding Organ Donation in Health Camps, Street Play, Kavi Sammelan etc to sensitize life-saving potential of organ donation.
This two-month long initiative began with awareness campaign ‘Angdaan Jagrukta Abhiyaan’ at adopted villages in Abhyapur, RHTC & UHTC of SRMS IMS, enhancing community engagement. Led by Dr Ruchi Arun, Associate Professor, Department of Community, alongside PG students — Dr Pankaj Garg & Dr Sambhav Jain & MBBS interns, the campaign educated attendees on critical importance of organ donation & to dispel prevalent myths that stop individuals from becoming donors. This was followed by Organ Donation Pledge Registration Drive at SRMS Vardaan Centre & Public Awareness Quiz in OPDs. Another campaign was led by Dr RC Gupta, City Center Medical Officer & Dr Laraibon organ donation & its procedures.
With an aim to promote sound body & mind right from childhood , a Health Camp was organized at Dhayanand Montessori School, wherein, Dr Geetha (PG JR-3),Department of Community Medicine; Dr Varun Upadhay (PG JR-1), Dept of Ophthalmology; Dr Tanushri , a dentist along with interns attended 210 children from pre-primary to middle school. Children & their parents at the camp also availed free services & medication.
