MEDICAL MARVEL: DR MAJID ABBAS KHAWAJA OF SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK HOSPITAL PERFORMS LIFE-SAVING ERCP

In an incredible display of expertise & dedication, DR MAJID ABBAS KHAWAJA, our stellar Consultant Interventional Gastroenterologist at Shri Ram Murti Smarak (SRMS) Hospital, Bareilly achieves another medical milestone of treating a 75-year-old male patient, who arrived at SRMS Hospital recently in an extremely critical state.

Suffering from Shock, Bradycardia & Bilateral Pneumonia, the patient’s condition was alarming. Without wasting a moment, patient was rushed for an emergency ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) procedure led by Dr Khawaja & his team who remained steadfast. Miraculously, by 3rd day post-procedure, patient exhibited a remarkable recovery & was discharged in a healthy & stable condition.

Speaking about the critical case, Dr Majid says, “The patient reached us through a referral from local hospital in a critical state of shock with low BP levels. He was already undergoing heavy medication. We conducted ERCP, identifying stones in patients’ bile duct. During ERCP procedure, a specialized scope was carefully guided through patient’s digestive system using a small wire. To minimize the risk of bleeding & facilitate the operation, a precut was skillfully performed, ensuring a safer intervention. Once the necessary access was established, a CBD (Common Bile Duct) stent was inserted for restoring proper bile flow & relieving obstruction, ultimately saving the patient’s life. However, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to SRMS medical team, administration, management, Endoscopic team & our dedicated staff who were present in OT & Endoscopy Lab for their invaluable support. We hope to remain committed to delivering cost-effective treatments, ensuring continued success of our services.”

Well, the careful execution of these steps highlights the significance of precision in ERCP procedures performed at SRMS Hospital, which showcases how advanced medical interventions in critical conditions can significantly improve patient outcomes.
