One day cadaveric workshop on LS spine instrumentation was organized by the division Of Neurosurgery and Dept of Orthopedics SRMS IMS on 19th Nov 2016.

The Division Of neurosurgery and Dept of orthopedics SRMS IMS in collaboration with the Bareilly Neuro Association organized one day cadaveric workshop on LS spine instrumentation on 19th Nov 2016. The workshop was conducted with aim of imparting training to spinal surgeons- the techniques of spinal stabilization and to discuss day to day problems encountered in spinal instrumentation.

The chief faculties invited were Prof Dr AK Singh, Director –MAX institute of Neurosciences, Dehradoon and Dr AK Shrivastava, Associate Professor, Neurosurgery, SGPGI, Lucknow. The Activity started with orientation talk on surgical and radiological anatomy of spine. This was followed by cadaveric workshop in which faculties demonstrated different surgical techniques to participants and introduced them to finner aspects of surgical intricacies. It is worth mentioning that though workshops are now increasingly common, this was first of its kind where all the workstations were equipped with Image Intensifier so as to provide the delegates an experience akin to Live surgery and reflects on the unconditional commitment of institution for quality training. Post lunch session was dedicated to didactic lectures on various spine related issues and participants were encouraged to share their experience and dilemmas for better understanding of subject.

Earlier during the day, Workshop Inauguration Ceremony was presided over by Shri Aditya Murti, the Managing Director of SRMS-IMS. The ceremony was attended over in large number by Heads and Faculties of various departments, Students, Resident Doctors and Delegates. Welcoming the delegates, Organizing Secretary Dr Shashank Sah introduced the guest faculties and emphasized on importance of practical workshops and the process of continuous learning. Event was formally inaugurated by Lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. Prof RC Purohit, Principal SRMS IMS also addressed the gathering while the vote of thanks was given by Dr Kumar Ashish. The daylong event concluded with gala dinner and cultural program.

The enthusiastic delegates, Neurosurgeons and Orthopaedicians both, visited the institute not only from Bareilly but also from many townships of UP, UK and Delhi. The event was a great success because of whole hearted participation of faculties from various departments, MBBS students, marketing team, OT technicians and ground work staff.
