The Department of General Surgery at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly recently hosted Hands-On Training Program on Suturing, Knotting, and Endo Training (Laparoscopy) for Interns, UGs, PGs, Residents, Senior Residents and Consultants of Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Department of Surgery & Department of Dermatology, which was organized by Johnson & Johnson Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson Institute on Wheels-JJIW).

Spread over two days, this training program, which was inaugurated by Aditya Murti, Director Administration at SRMS IMS in the presence of Dr MS Butola, Principal; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent; Dr Sudesh Kr Sagar, Professor & HOD, Department of General Surgery; Dr Punit Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of General Surgery; Dr Anil Negi, Professor at Department of General Surgery & other delegates, was an excellent opportunity for the budding medicos to enhance their surgical skills and learn new techniques from experts in the field.

The program included various interactive sessions and practical workshops. The first day began with an introduction on basic principles of suturing and knotting, followed by hands-on training sessions. The participants had the opportunity to practice their suturing and knotting skills on synthetic skin models, under the guidance of expert trainers. The second day focused on advanced techniques in Laparoscopy surgery, wherein participants were introduced to various laparoscopic instruments & techniques.

The participants found the training program to be extremely beneficial and informative. Expressing her opinion on the same, one of the participants of the hands-on training, Dr Simran Tyagi, Senior Resident, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology says, “It was a great opportunity to learn from experienced trainers, who provided us with resources and knowledge. We got to practice and enhance our surgical skills in a supportive environment, which we will be able to apply in our future medical practices.”
