SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly wraps up its3-day Inaugural Course of Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) & emerges as 2ND Institution in UP (after KGMU Lucknow) to coordinate this prestigious course, under the aegis of ATLS India; American College of Surgeons-Committee on Trauma.
Held in collaboration with Department of Emergency Medicine & Trauma, ATLS sensitized MBBS / BDS medicos with theoretical, practical & skill sessions on various traumas like Head, Abdominal & Pelvic, Musculo-skeletal, Spine & Spinal Cord, Geriatric, Thermal injuries, trauma in pregnancy etc.
Concurrently, one-day CME on ‘Standard Practices in Breast Oncology’ was also organized, under the aegis of RR Cancer Institute & Research Centre at SRMSIMS.
Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, along with Dr MC Mishra, ATLS India Chair & Ex-Director AIIMS, New Delhi & Dr Subodh Kumar, ATLS India Vice-Chair inaugurated ATLS in the presence of Aditya Murti, Director Administration; Dr Harshit Agarwal, Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine & Trauma Department & other dignitaries. Giving an overview on trauma care services, Dr MC Mishra stressed upon increasing road accidental cases, while Dr Subodh appreciated the affordable & quality treatment at SRMSIMS.
The 3-day ATLS course featured interactive discussions & demonstrations on Airway & Ventilatory Management, Shock, Thoracic Trauma, Head Injuries, along with practical skills on specified stations by Course Director, D r AK Gupta, Ex-HOD, Department of General Surgery, Dr RML Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi; Brig Dr Kiran S, Commandant Military Hospital, Bareilly; Dr Lt Col Anand Katiyar, Assistant Professor, Command Hospital, Lucknow; Dr Priyanka Choudhary, SR, Department of Surgery, AIIMS Raebareli & Dr Madhur Uniyal, Associate Professor, AIIMS Rishikesh.
