As the Department of Ophthalmology at SRMS Hospital, Bareilly observes WORLD GLAUCOMA Awareness Week from March 12-18, 2023 through various activities, displaying banners, pamphlets and providing discounted diagnostic and surgical services for Glaucoma patients, a knowledge-driven awareness program was also held at SRMS Riddhima on March 14, 2023 for the students of MBBS Batch 2021 and Bachelor of Optometry Batch 2019 (Paramedical). Prepared by junior doctors and optometrists, the event was an entertaining and fun-filled cultural presentation, which showcased on
working together to detect and prevent vision loss from the silent thief of sight—Glaucoma.
The evening saw an incredible work done by optometrists in the form of exhibiting cultural program and theme-based plays to spread awareness about this sight-threatening condition, wherein they informed how Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness, but with early detection and treatment, it can be managed and even prevented. The event was inspiring for everyone to take care of their eyes. Not only the budding doctors, but also the artists and gurus at SRMS Riddhima showcased their talent in singing, dancing and drama, and emphasized upon the importance of eye health and regular eye exams. Most importantly, all of this not only educated the audience, but also provided a fun and engaging way to learn about eye health.
Professor & Head of Department of Ophthalmology, Dr Neelima Mehrotra, also a Dean of UG Programme initiated the event with support of Associate Professors—Dr Shipra Tripathi; Dr Kunwar Gaurav Singh and Dr Archana Prabha, along with Senior Residents—Dr Ria Batra; Dr Sara Rizvi; Dr Sakshi Singh, and Junior Residents—Dr Aastha Agarwal; Dr Ram Mohan Mishra; Dr Manu Priya; Dr Neelika Singla; Dr Paras Arora; Dr Mitali Yadav; Dr Manu Prakash; Dr Anugya Singh and Dr Jyotsna Shree.
