{"id":2400,"date":"2026-10-28T09:58:43","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T09:58:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.srms.ac.in\/nursing\/?p=2400"},"modified":"2026-10-28T09:58:43","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T09:58:43","slug":"more-than-caregivers-they-are-lifesavers-srms-nursing-college-celebrates-the-real-heroes-of-motherhood-the-midwives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.srms.ac.in\/nursing\/more-than-caregivers-they-are-lifesavers-srms-nursing-college-celebrates-the-real-heroes-of-motherhood-the-midwives\/","title":{"rendered":"MORE THAN CAREGIVERS, THEY ARE LIFESAVERS: SRMS NURSING COLLEGE CELEBRATES THE REAL HEROES OF MOTHERHOOD, \u2018THE MIDWIVES\u2019!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Celebrating compassion, care, and the hands that bring new life safely into the world\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On the occasion of <strong>International Midwife Day,<\/strong> the <strong>Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology <\/strong>and <strong>Caring Hands Club <\/strong>at<strong> SRMS College of Nursing<\/strong>, Bareilly organized a meaningful community awareness programme focused on maternal and newborn healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>Aligned with the WHO theme, <em>\u201c<strong>One Million More Midwives: Every Mother Deserves a Midwife,\u201d<\/strong><\/em> the initiative was conducted under the guidance of <strong>Dr Muthu Maheshwari<\/strong> (Principal) and <strong>Prof Paras<\/strong> (Vice Principal), SRMS College of Nursing.<\/p>\n<p>From impactful outreach activities at <strong>Bhojipura Block<\/strong> to engaging demonstrations and role plays at the auditoriums of <strong>SRMS College of Engineering Technology &amp; Research<\/strong> and the <strong>Nursing College<\/strong>, the programme highlighted the critical role midwives play in creating healthier communities. Nursing students delivered insightful presentations and live demonstrations on <strong>Antenatal Exercise, Family Planning, Active Management of Third Stage of Labour (AMTSL), and Prevention &amp; Management of Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH),<\/strong> spreading awareness about safe motherhood and maternal wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>The theme banner was unveiled by <strong>Pratyencha H. Ram<\/strong> (Assistant Professor &amp; HOD, Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology, College of Nursing), while <strong>Dr Shashi Bala Arya<\/strong> (HOD, Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences) inspired students with an encouraging address on compassionate and skilled maternal care.<\/p>\n<p>The programme was seamlessly carried out by <strong>Pratyencha<\/strong> and <strong>Shalini Singh<\/strong> (PG Tutor), and anchored by <strong>Anshima Shukla <\/strong>and <strong>Anshuman Singh<\/strong> (MOCs).
