A One-Day Hands-On Workshop on ‘Concept of BoBath (NDT) Approach in Handling of Adult Hemiplegics’ was organized by Department of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation at SRMS IMS and SRMS IPS, Bareilly on December 9, 2022. The Resource Person as well as the Guest Speaker for the workshop was Dr Prabhat Ranjan, Senior Physiotherapist at AIIMS, New Delhi.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Guest of Honour, Dr Santosh Pandey (PT); Trust advisor, Er Subhash Mehra; Principal IMS, Dr SB Gupta, and Principal IPS, Dr CM Chaturvedi, in the presence of heads of various departments of IMS, and in-charges of various branches of SRMSIPS.
During inauguration, Dr Ashish Chauhan (PT), the Organizing Chairperson & Vice-Principal of SRMS IPS gave welcome address, while Resource Person, Dr Prabhat Ranjan gave words of wisdom and motivated the delegates to learn new things. Emphasizing upon the importance of research in the field of physiotherapy, Dr Prabhat said, “Physiotherapy plays an important role from womb to tomb, from pediatrics to geriatrics, and in prevention and cure.” He also mentioned about the establishment of Central Statutory Body as a National Commission for Allied & Healthcare Professions by the Government of India in 2021, which will help the allied healthcare profession, and stop the practice of quackery.
The workshop was divided into two sessions; during session-1, the delegates were taught to develop better understanding of neurological disorders and handling of hemiplegics, while in session-2, the delegates learnt about the movement patterns of hemiplegics, and practical training was imparted on shifting of the patients from bed to wheelchair and vice-versa. Facilitation of muscles of upper limb and lower limb muscles was also taught.
Later, Dr SB Gupta also addressed the gathering. Dr Prabhat Ranjan (PT), Dr Santosh Pandey (PT) and Er Subhash Mehra were felicitated with plant saplings and mementos. Dr Nabeela Khanam (PT), Organizing Secretary and In-charge at Department of Physiotherapy gave vote of thanks. The program was hosted by Dr Hina Siddiqui, Assistant Professor at Department of Physiotherapy. The workshop was well coordinated by Dr Chitrangada (PT), Dr Shivank (PT), Dr Manisha (PT), Dr Pratima (PT), Dr Pallavi (PT), Dr Sachin (PT), Dr Shiksha (PT) and Dr Arjun (PT).
