Award Winning SRMS CET Alum Mr. Amit Kumar Verma Talks about his Rapid Rise in Academia

Mr. Amit Kumar Verma, SRMS CET alum of 2004 batch has scaled new heights of success in a short span of time in the world of academia. He recently won Shikshak Shri Award from Dy Governor Delhi, Prof Ramesh Goyal Vice Chancellor Delhi Pharmaceutical Research University, Central Pharmacy University, for his contributions to the world of education. He is also the recipient of Pharmacy Ratna award from National Pharmacy Association in Gorakhpur. Nominated for Indo Nepal Samasta Award from Antarastriya Samasta Manch, we talk to him about his achievements, his strengths as an educationist and SRMS’ role in his career.

Mr. Verma is a faculty member and Assistant Dean, DSW at MJPRU. He asserts that teaching has always been a passion for him and he looks at it as a way to contribute to Nation building. That’s why he stays focused on shaping young minds and uses innovative techniques to stimulate them. “My teaching is a mix of innovation, interaction, collaboration with greater focus on active learning. I ensure that the concepts I teach can be related to the pharmaceutical industry and hospitals. I also use audio-visual aids, education videos to help my students learn effectively,” he says.

Besides being a faculty member, Mr. Verma is also the Training & Placement coordinator and Assistant Warden main Hostel at MJPRU. He is an avid researcher with special focus on ‘Biopolymers in Pharmaceuticals’ and ‘Ayurvedic formulation development and standardization’. He asserts that his passion and skills were honed at SRMS CET, where he was part of the founding batch. “Today the college is in a unique position. When we studied here we had to overcome challenges. But the college went out of its way to offer us access to best infrastructure and scientist cadre faculty from IVRI Bareilly. It helped us a lot,” he claims.

According to Mr. Verma, disciplined hard work builds students’ character and personality. Hence he strongly supports the academic rigor and long hours at SRMS, which he believes prepare students for their professional careers too. With his academic beliefs formed at the institute it’s not surprising that he is in close contact with his faculty members at the institute. “As a part of alumni lecture series I recently delivered a talk on Pradhanmantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra. SRMS CET has been an integral part of journey so far and I will also remain proud of my association with it,” he says filled with emotions.
