For fresh engineers, SRMS CET, Bareilly has consistently been a dynamic stepping stone to the industry. While some go on to have long careers in organizations they get placed in on campus, others like Adesh Srivastava get selected by top names within a short time. The 2017 graduate bagged campus placement with technology giant TCS. After proving himself in the company for a year, he made the switch at a substantially higher package with Myntra. Here’s how Adesh’s college set the ball rolling for the stunning career moves.
Recruited from campus by TCS, Adesh worked with the company as an Assistant Systems Engineer. Just the head start he needed to launch his professional career. When the opportunity arose he grabbed it with both hands and bagged the Software Engineer position with ecommerce powerhouse Myntra. Talking about his decision, he says, “The interview process was based on problem solving, data structures, and algorithms. Myntra is a leader in beauty and apparel. Loved by all, the company is a leader in the Indian ecommerce market. So I saw a long-term opportunity with the organization and decided to capitalize on it.” The higher pay scale, that product based companies like Myntra offer, was the icing on the cake.
While Adesh is pleasantly surprised with the leap his career has taken, he admits that his time at SRMS CET, Bareilly had given him the edge. According to him, the focus on discipline and the contributions of his faculty team and the entire Department of Computer Science have been instrumental in his growth as a professional. Offering insights to juniors and fellow programmers, he observes, “At SRMS the emphasis is on problem solving. I was encouraged to take competitive programming as a habit. I tried to think and implement the design patterns of real world products and solutions like Aadhaar, WhatsApp, and Uber. I also practiced as many questions as possible and that made me confident.”
SRMS is known for its focus on holistic education inspired by interdisciplinary approach and serious research. The rapid rise in Adesh’s career stands testimony to the fact that SRMS graduates are much sought after in the industry.
