DR AMIT SAXENA, an Advanced Laparoscopic and Gastro Surgeon at SRMS Goodlife Hospital, recently saved the life of a 24-year-old patient from Uttarakhand, Prakash Chandra Arya, who was suffering from Acute Intestinal Obstruction.

Prakash, a resident of Nainital, was in critical condition with severe sepsis, unable to speak, eat and pass stool for 7-8 days. After initial treatment in Haldwani failed to improve his condition, he was referred to SRMS Goodlife Hospital. Dr Amit Saxena, upon diagnosing him, identified a rectosigmoid growth obstructing the bowel. Recognizing the urgency, Dr Saxena immediately performed an emergency laparotomy, despite the patient’s poor condition.

“The surgery was challenging, but we successfully removed the obstruction, and within two to three days, the patient came out from ICU and began eating again”, said Dr Amit Saxena, on adding, “Most importantly, this case underscores the critical importance of timely & accurate medical care.
