25th Annual UP Chapter CSI-Cardicon 2019 was organized by SRMSIMS in association with APB (association of Physicians of Bareilly) The conference held on 2nd and 3rd February was attended by more than 400 Cardiologists Physicians post graduate students and senior residents.

The organizing Secretary of conference was Dr Amresh Agarwal various dignataries from Lucknow, New Delhi, Varanasi, Kanpur and Aligarh took active participation and delivered lecutres in the two day programme.

A mother’s joy begins when new life is stirring inside; when a tiny heart beat is heard for the first time; and a playful kick reminds her that she is never alone. An Infertility Summit 2019 was organized by Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on 24th February 2019. The CME was based on the theme “Motherhood- Dream of every woman”.

This prestigious event was inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti (Chief Patron), Shri Aditya Murti and Dr S.B. Gupta (Patron) and two eminent personalities- Dr. Pankaj Talwar (National Secretary General, IFS) & Dr. Ritu Khanna (Joint Treasurer IFS). The ceremony was also graced by Executive Members of BOGS Bareilly, Shahjahanpur Obst. & Gynaecology Society, members of the newly formed executive body & executive council & other clinicians, embryologists & postgraduates .

Dr. J.K.Goel (Organizing Chairperson) welcomed all dignitaries and delegates and stressed upon the need of such CME’s. The ceremony had sessions on Male Infertility, PCOS and Ovarian Reserve. This was a great academic feast on Infertility management, giving excellent opportunity for all participants to enhance their knowledge and keep abreast and disseminate current advancement and developments. It was a wealth of updated, unambiguous and comprehensive information.

Dr. Pankaj Talwar further enlightened the audience through deliberation on Medico legal aspects in ART. The scientific programme consisted of a panel discussion on case based scenario moderated by Dr. Pankaj Talwar. The discussion brought out new treatment modalities on infertility management & was very informative to the audience.

The response was very heartening and overwhelming. Around 100 delegates from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand attended the CME. Feedback from delegates was very positive and complimentary on both professional and administrative arrangements. The Guest faculty also had all appreciation for the institution and the arrangements made.

A two day 8th workshop of SRMS Contouring Classes was started on 16th-17th March, 2019. The topic was “Contouring of Head & Neck Malignancies”. The workshop aims to teach faculty and residents about the latest radiotherapy techniques.

Dr. Piyush Kumar, Professor and Head of Department was Course Chairman and Dr. Arvind Kumar Chauhan (Asso. Prof) & Dr. Pavan Kumar (Asst Prof) were Course Coordinators. Faculties, Senior Resident and Junior Residents from S. N. Medical College (Agra), Regional Cancer Institute (Gwalior), Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital (Allahabad) and Keshlata Hospital (Bareilly)

attended this workshop.

The Medical Physics team demonstrated the IMRT planning of Cancer Pyriform Fossa which was followed by the live demonstration of delivery of Radiotherapy by IGRT technique. The delegates appreciated the efforts taken by the Medical Physics and technical team to come on a holiday and provide a visual impact of the IMRT and IGRT technique.
The Instructor for the course was Dr. Sudeep Bisht (Senior Resident) along with four tutors Dr. M. Navya, Dr. A. Srinivas Naidu, Dr. Ankita Mehta and Dr. Kritika Mehrotra.

A successful fellowship course of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES) and workshop was conducted in SRMSIMS on 29th-31st March 2019.

FIAGES was organized by Dr. (Prof) S K Sagar (HOD, General Surgery) assisted by organizing secretaries Dr. Amit Saxena and

Dr. Anil Negi. More than 180 candidates participated along with a total of 114 fellowship candidates.
Under the able guidance of Dr. Sayandev Das Gupta (President IAGES) and Dr. Sunil D. Popat (Honorary Secretary IAGES) fellowship candidates and postgraduate students were given the latest updates of technological advancements and basic principles of laparoscopic surgery. The focus of discussion were topics like and appendicectomies, cholecystectomies, incisional, hiatus and groin hernias, morbid obesity, colorectal and robotic surgeries.

Endotrainers and live workshop was organized to provide ample hands on experience which aided in introduction of and development of basic laparoscopic surgical skills.

Maternal Fetal Medicine Update 2018 (Feb. 2018)

A CME on Maternal Fetal Medicine Update 2018 was organized by department of Obstetrics and Gynecology on 4th February 2018. The CME was based on the theme “Optimizing Maternal & Fetal Care”. The need was felt to keep abreast and disseminate current cutting edge information as the maternal fetal medicine is undergoing constant advancement and developments. It was a wealth of updated, unambiguous and comprehensive information.

Huge spectrum of topics were discussed starting from basics to the latest ones so that all can be benefitted starting from general practitioners, post graduates, practicing gynecologists and faculty in various medical colleges. All the deliberations were by pioneers and stalwarts in their field in a very simplified way. The eminent speakers included Dr. Vatsala (AIIMS, New Delhi), Dr. R.K. Thapar (Neonatologist, Command Hospital, Lucknow), Dr. Reema (R&R Hospital), Dr. Vishesh Verma (Endocrinologist, Command Hospital, Lucknow), Dr. Deepti (Geneticist, SGPGI, Lucknow), Dr. Latika Chawla (AIIMS, Rishikesh) and Dr. Gunjan Rai (Command Hospital, Chandigarh).

The response was very heartening and overwhelming. Around 2oo delegates from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand attended the CME. Feedback from delegates is very positive and complimentary on both professional and administrative arrangements. The Guest faculty also had all appreciation for the institution and the arrangements made. They expressed the desire to revisit the institution if given an opportunity.

Gynaepathology CME, 2018 (Feb. 2018)

A one day CME was organised by the Department of Pathology, at Sri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences on 25th February, 2018. The event was attended by 200 delegates, including guest speakers and faculty from across the country. The CME was based on Gynaepathology and focussed on the recent updates, diagnostic dilemmas and newer approach to the cases pertaining to gynaecological specimens.

The event was kickstarted by free paper and poster presentations by post graduate students, followed by a day of enriching lectures by eminent faculties. The Speakers included Dr. Arvind Rajwanshi (Professor and Head Department of Cytopathology and Gynaecopathology, Dean (Research), PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Nalini Gupta (Professor, Department of Cytology and Gynaecopathology, PGIMER, Chandigarh), Dr. Sandeep Mathur (Professor, Pathology, AIIMS, New Delhi), Dr. Bharat Rekhi (Professor, Department of Surgical Pathology and Officer in charge, Department of Cytopathology, Tata Memorial Center, Mumbai), Dr. Manish Rohilla (Assistant Professor, Department of Cytology and Gynaecological Pathology, PGIMER, Chandigarh) and Dr. Ranjan Agarwal (Professor, Department of Pathology, Rohilkhand Medical College, Bareilly).

The event was inaugurated by Brig Dr. S. S. Jaiswal (Senior Executive Medical Officer, Military Hospital, Bareilly) who highlighted the importance of CME for postgraduates and practising medical fraternity. He also encouraged the out-station guests to explore the heritage of Bareilly after the CME. The lectures included topics on liquid based cytology, interpretation of endometrial biopsies, ovarian carcinomas, and an extensive slide discussion. Dr. Nalini Gupta and Dr. Manish Rohilla stressed upon the recent developments and advantages of liquid based cytology over conventional cervical cytology. Dr. Arvind Rajwanshi brought into focus the diagnostic dilemmas regarding endometrial biopsies. Dr. Bharat Rekhi discussed rare and unusual cases pertaining to ovarian carcinomas. Dr. Sandeep Mathur emphasised upon the recent advances in serous carcinomas of the ovary. Dr. Ranjan Agarwal enlightened the audience through an illuminating slide discussion on interesting cases of the vulva. The CME was overall a great success organised under the guidance of Sri Dev Murti (Chairman Trust), Shri Aditya Murti (Director Administration), Dr. Hema Pant (Organizing Secretory) and Dr. Surabhi Pandey (Joint Organising Secretory).

The team work of the department (Dr. Tanu Agarwal, Dr. Ruchee Khandelwal, Dr. Milan Jaiswal, Dr. Nidhi Johri, Dr. Preeti Gupta, Dr. Mayank Soni, Dr. Devan Rastogi), along with supporting staff and marketing team helped the CME see the light of the day. The scientific programme and warm hospitality was appreciated by all the delegates.

A Knee and Shoulder symposium was held on 18th March 2018 by the department of Orthopaedics at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly under the aegis of Arthroscopy Association UP. This prestigious event was attended by a total of 63 delegates, including guest speakers, resource faculties and numerous delegates from various states and union territories of the country.

Eminent and respective faculties held invigorating and interactive talks on sports injuries around the knee and shoulder joint, as a part of the CME, including a live surgery on double bundle ACL repair of the knee joint. The eminent speaker faculty included Dr Prateek Gupta, Head of Sports Injury, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi; Dr Himanshu Kataria, Director Professor, Sports Injury centre, New Delhi; Dr Vineet Jain, Dr Pallav Mishra, Dr Himanshu Gupta from Sports Injury Centre, New Delhi; Dr Ashish Kumar,KGMC, Lucknow; Dr Arun Gupta Ojas hospital, Agra; Dr Ravi Mittal, AIIMS, New Delhi; Dr K.D. Tripathi, from Allahabad

The CME emphasized on sports injuries around the knee and shoulder joint seeking to spread recent advances and current management of these injuries at various distinguished centres around the country. The single day event saw participation by various post graduates and medical students in an effort to increase their knowledge about the subject.

The live surgery which was a double bundle ACL reconstruction of the knee joint was a breakthrough for many of the delegates attending the CME so as to get used to the latest techniques and steps of the surgery. The event saw its inauguration by the auspicious hands of the honorable chairman of the Shri Ram Murti Smarak Trust, Shri Dev Murti ji, with the chief guest being Dr Prateek Gupta, Vice President, Indian Arthroscopy Society, and the guest of honor being Dr K D Tripathi, President, Arthroscopy Association UP. Appreciation towards the academic sessions and the warm hospitality was expressed by all delegates, and many of whom expressed the desire to see more academic events of such calibre being organised at this centre.

SRMS IMS Contouring Classes (March 2018)

5th Workshop held at R.R Cancer Institute, SRMS-IMS, Bareilly. A two day fifth workshop of SRMS-IMS Contouring Classes was started on 24th March, 2018. The topic was “Contouring of Head & Neck Malignancies”. The workshop aims to teach faculty and residents about the latest radiotherapy techniques.

Dr. Piyush Kumar, Professor & Head of Department was course Chairman and Dr. Pavan Kumar, Assistant Professor was Course Coordinator. Senior Resident and Junior Residents from Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital, Allahabad and SN Medical College, Agra attended this workshop. This workshop is unique and only of its kind in whole India where delegates are given 10 hours of hands on training on treatment planning system. This workshop provided hands on experience and exposure of existing advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation therapy to participants.

The faculty for the course was Dr. Arvind Kumar Chauhan (Asso. Professor) and five Tutors Dr. Farhan Ahmad, Dr. Laxman Pandey, Dr. M. Navya, Dr. A. Srinivas Naidu and Dr. Vishwadeep Mishra. A live demonstration of IMRT planning of Cancer Larynx, verification with IGRT followed by execution of the case was demonstrated on second day. The workshop was well appreciated by delegates and the feedback was very motivating. Dr. Ankur from Agra said “Very knowledgeable and nice hands on training on the latest software. This will be really helpful” and Dr. Prabhat from Allahabad commented “Amazing workshop. Very Informative. Basic concepts explained very well”. This training will help the residents to become aware about delineation aspects in Head & Neck Cancers. The department’s motto is “Treating patients, Teaching post graduates, Training Specialists”.

Antibiotic Update – Optimization & Conservation (March 2018)

A One day CME was conducted as joint venture by Department of Critical Care Medicine and Department of Pulmonary Medicine at SRMSIMS, Bareilly (U.P.) on 25th March,2018 (Sunday) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in association of ISCCM Bareilly Chapter. The scientific Programme included delibrations by Dr. Lalit Singh, Dr. Arun C. Kotaru, Dr. Jeetendra Sharma, Dr. Aditya N. Shukla, Dr. Jeetendra Sharma, Dr. Aditya N. Shukla, Dr. Rajesh Bharadwaj, Dr. Vaibhav Gupta, Dr. Deven Juneja and other faculty. The CME was attended by 103 doctors including practicing physicians, Medical college faculty, Post graduate student, Interns, IDCCM students.

The Programme was blessed by the presence of Mr. Aditya Murti, Director Administration, SRMSIMS. Dr. S.B. Gupta, Principal, SRMSIMS, Dr. (Brig.) S.K. Handa, M.S., SRMSIMS and DR. Nirmal Yadav, Medical Director, SRMSIMS.

Derma Psychiatry Conclave (March 2018)

Department of Psychiatry & Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly (UP) and Rohilkhand Dermatological Society, Bareilly & Indian Psychiatry Society Bareilly successfully organised a 1 day CME (Derma Psychiatry Conclave – 2018,” at Seminar Hall, SRMSIMS, Bareilly on 31st March, 2018.

The CME was an academic extravaganza with participation of more than 100 delegates from all over Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand states. Noteworthy being a hitherto neglected sub-speciality, it saw active participation by post graduates of dermatology and Psychiatry from more or less all the medical colleges of UP and UK having post graduate residents. These included Guest Speakers from Dr. Gupta’s Skin and Hair Hospital Lucknow, Base Hospital Lucknow, Hind Medical College Barabanki, Base Hospital from Delhi, RMCH (Bareilly), SRMSIMS (Bareilly).

For the first time such a CME was held the field of psychodermatology or psychocutaneous medicine focuses on the interaction between the mind, the brain, and the skin psychiatry is focused on the “internal invisible disease” and dermatology is focused on “external visible disease” psychodermatology as a discipline encourages a comprehensive and humanistic approach to the management of dermatology patients with psychiatric comorbidity. The purpose of this CME was to provide clinicians a background using a biopsychosocial model for cilincal assessment and management of psychosomatic aspects of dermatological disorders.

Faculty consisted of Dr Sarvesh Chandra (Senior Psychiatrist), Dr. D. Bhattacharya (Prof and Head, Base hospital Delhi), Dr. C.S. Sharma (Prof. and Head, RMCH Bareilly), Dr. Rajesh Verma (Prof. and Head Base Hospital, Lucknow), Dr. Sumit Gupta (Dr. Dr. Gupta’s Skin and Hair Hospital), Dr. Sunil Gupta (Prof. and Head, Hind Medical College), Dr. Sujata Singh (Prof. and Head SRMS IMS Bareilly). They were supported by Dr Madhur Kant Rastogi (Asst. Prof, SRMSIMS, Bareilly) and Organising Secretary, (Derma Psychiatry Conclave – 2018), Dr. P.K. Pardal, Dr. Pratik Gahalaut & Dr Nitin Mishra SRMSIMS, Bareilly. Over all, the academic content of CME was highly appreciated by one and all as per the feedback forms filled by all the delegates.

Chest Imaging Update (April 2018)

The department of Radiodiagnosis of Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences organized a CME “Chest Imaging Update-2018” on 08th April 2018. The CME was organized in collaboration with UP State IRIA Chapter. The various doctors and specialist gathered for the CME, discussed the details of Radiological Investigations. The attending delegates, medical students were detailed with the various radiological investigations like- X-ray, CT Scan and MRI.

The CME was inaugurated by Mr. Aditya Murti – Director Administrator of the Institute, Dr. S.B. Gupta, Dr. R. Madhok- Organizing Chairperson and head of Department of Radiology, Dr. L. Upreti, Dr. S.K. Tripathi, Dr. Nirmal Yadav – Medical Director, Brig. (Dr.) S.K. Handa, Dr. Neeraj Prajapati and Dr. S.K. Rastogi, after worship of “Maa Swaraswati Idol and Lamp Lighting”. The director administration – Mr. Adiya Murti, welcomed the various guest speakers, delegates and students, who attended the chest imaging update-2018.

Dr. S.K. Tripathi from KGMU Lucknow delivered a lecture on how to report a chest radiograph pointwise. Dr. Anmol Bhatia from PGI Chandigarh discussed various pediatric chest pathologies, Dr. L. Upreti from UCMS Delhi discussed the various chest lymphomas and Dr. Zafar Neyaz from SGPGI Lucknow delivered a lecture on chest intervention.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Neeraj Prajapati – Organizing Secretary Chest Imaging Update – 2018, thanking the Chairman of Institute Shri Dev Murti Ji, Shri Adiya Murti, Principal Shri S.B. Gupta along with the visiting guest faculty, attending delegates and students.

Adolescent health CME – 2018

A conference on Adolescent Health-2018 was organized by the Department of Pediatrics, SRMSIMS in collaboration with UP state IAP and IAP Barielly on 21st April 2018. The theme of the CME was “Know Your Adolescent”. Dr PL Prasad was Organizing Chairperson and Dr Anita Kumari was Organizing Secretary. More than 150 adolescents, 30 teachers and pediatricians from all over the city participated in the conference. Inaugural function was graced by Shri Parush Arora, Shri Nirbhay Beniwal, President and Secterary, Independent School Association, respectively.

Dr Preeti Galagali, Convener of Technical Advisory Group Adolescent Health, Asia Pacific Pediatric Association 2016-2018 and National Convener of IAP Mission Kishore Uday Programme 2018-19 shared various experiences of adolescents and their behavioral changes. Dr Piyali Bhattacharya, Life member of Adolescent Health Academy and Adolescent Health Ambassdor of Mission Kishore Uday, spoke on impact of media on adolescent.

The conference began by the opinions and problems of teenagers in the interactive session with Dr Anita Kumari.This was followed by vibrant color display of posters by the school children. The first prize was won by Manasthali International School and runner up by Bedi International School. The day concluded with an interactive session with parents, teachers and pediatricians with Dr PL Prasad. There was grand release of two booklets, “The Teen Years” and “The Teenagers”, authored by Dr Anita Kumari and Dr PL Prasad.

8th Annual conference of UP-UK Chapter of APPI “UP-UK APPICON 2018” was held at SRMSIMS, Bareilly from 13th to 15th April, 2018. The theme of the conference was “Molecular targets in Health & Disease”.

The conference commenced with a preconference CME on “Molecular basis of neurodegenerative diseases” on 13th April, 2018. A Hands on workshop on “Pharmacovigilance” was also organized as a preconference event on 13th April 2018.

The conference started on 14th April with a symposium on the theme of the conference. The plenary speaker Dr. Rakesh K Tyagi, Professor, Molecular Medicine from JNU, New Delhi delivered his talk on Gene -bookmarking: a novel role of nuclear receptors in transcriptional memory. A bio-modelling competition was organized for undergraduate MBBS Students in which 8 teams displayed their models. A session of postgraduate oral & e-poster presentation and faculty oral presentation was also held.

CME on Gynaecological Malignancies -an Update

A one day CME on Gynaecological Malignancies for Post Graduates – An Update 2018 was organized by the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Radiation Oncology on 13th May 2018 at Sri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly. The CME focused on recent updates, diagnostic dilemmas and newer approach to Gynaecological malignancies.

The CME was an academic extravaganza and included delibertations by Dr. J.K.Goel, Dr. Piyush Kumar, Dr. Shubhanshu Gupta, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Pawan Kumar.It was well attended by around 80 delegates. It saw active participation by Post Graduates of Deptt of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Radiation oncology from various colleges of U.P and Uttarakhand. The CME was a great academic feast covering genital malignancies from bascis to most advanced one. It was an excellent opportunity for all PG,s to enhance their knowledge and keep abreast with the latest developments in this field.

The CME also included a Practical Demonstration of Radiotherapy Planning- Linear Accelerator and Brachytherapy in the Deptt of Radiation Oncology. The workshop provided hands on experience and exposure from basic concepts to exixting advanced technologies for cancer treatment in Gynaecology and Radiation oncology to participants.

Workshop on Phacoshala – 2018

Phacoshala held on 06.06.18 is a workshop to give hands on training to junior doctors & junior faculty of ophthalmology department for phacoemulsification surgeries done on artificial eyes in ot & intricacies of procedure as well as machine settings are explained with demonstration. This was done by dr. Neelima mehrotrawho conducted training of each of junior doctors of department.

The inaugural ceremony of 21st Chapter of IFS Western UP Chapter was held on 21st June, 2018 organized by the department of Obst. & Gynae SRMS IMS Bareilly. This prestigious event was inaugurated by two eminent personalities- Dr. Pankaj Talwar (National Secretary General, IFS) & Dr. Ritu Khanna (Joint Treasurer IFS). The ceremony was also graced by Executive Members of BOGS Bareilly, Shahjahanpur Obst. & Gynaecology Society, members of the newly formed executive body & executive council & other clinicians, embryologists & postgraduates .

Workshop ACLS / BCLS

The department has Organized a Workshop on ACLS/BLS Provider course from 22nd to 24th June, 2018 at SRMSIMS, Bareilly, under expert team from Medanta Medicity Hospital, Gurgaon, Haryana. In the workshop during 2018, 65 students had applied of which 22 qualified BLS and 19 qualified ACLS course successfully.

6th SRMS Contouring Classes Workshop

A two day sixth workshop of SRMS Contouring Classes was started on 21st July, 2018. The topic was “Contouring of Thoracic Malignancies”. The workshop aims to teach faculty and residents about the latest radiotherapy techniques.

Dr. Piyush Kumar, Professor & Head of Department was course Chairman and Dr. Mrinalini Verma, Assistant Professor was Course Coordinator. Faculty, Senior Resident and Junior Residents from Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital, Allahabad and SN Medical College, Agra attended this workshop.

This workshop is unique and only of its kind in whole India where delegates are given 10 hours of hands on training on treatment planning system. This workshop provided hands on experience and exposure of existing advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation therapy to participants.

The faculty for the course was Dr. Arvind Kumar Chauhan (Asso. Professor) and Dr. Pavan Kumar (Asst. Professor), Instructor Dr. Ayush Garg and four Tutors Dr. Kanika Gehlaut, Dr. M. Navya, Dr. A. Srinivas Naidu and Dr. Vishwadeep Mishra. A live demonstration of IMRT planning of Cancer Lung, verification with IGRT followed by execution of the case was demonstrated on second day.

The workshop was well appreciated by delegates and the feedback was very motivating. Dr. Tejaswita from Agra said “Excellent, would like to attend all the forthcoming sessions” and Dr. Manraj S. Kang from Faridkot commented “Great initiative, excellent teaching program”. The department of radiotherapy has set another milestone in SRMS-IMS of not only educating this latest technology to their P.G students but also to those faculty and residents of different medical colleges who do not have this technology. This training will help the residents to become aware about delineation aspects in Thoracic Tumors. The department’s motto is “Treating patients, Teaching post graduates, Training Specialists”.

IAP Advance Life Support Workshop

The Department of Paediatrics organized a two day workshop on Advanced Life Support in Paediatric patients on 11-12th August 2018 at SRMS IMS, in association with Indian Academy of Paediatrics, State and Bareilly branches. The workshop was held under the esteemed supervision of Dr Anant Ketkar, Zonal Coordinator IAP ALS group, along with a team of four National level trainers. Thirty six participants from Bareilly and adjoining areas, qualifying the eligibility criteria, participated dedicatedly. Prof P L Prasad, Head of Department, Paediatrics and the Organizing Chairperson, welcomed the gathering with his inspiring

words. Prof Sandhya Chauhan, coordinator, ensured the smooth conduction of the entire workshop. The workshop comprised of didactic lectures, hands-on-training as well as a final MCQ based written and practical examination in a simulated environment on manikins.

All participants successfully received certification as Pediatric Advanced Life Support caregivers.

Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care

A two-day “Certificate Course in Essentials of Palliative Care” in association with Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) was conducted on 4th – 5th August, 2018. This course was aimed to inculcate the principles of palliative care to improve patient care through proper communication and effective management of difficult symptoms.

Faculties Dr. Abhijit Dam (Ranchi), Dr. Mona Rai (Nagpur) and Dr. Ravinder Mohan (New Delhi) came to conduct the course. Faculties, residents and nurses from the department of Radiation Oncology, Pulmonology, Critical Care, Anaesthesia, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Community Medicine actively participated in the course. A mock scene was enacted by the residents during the course.

The workshop was well appreciated by all and the feedback was very motivating. This program will help practicing doctors and nurses in their day to day professional life of managing palliative care.

5th North Zone Critical Care Conference & 1st SRMS PulmoCrit-2018

The Department of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, SRMSIMS, Bareilly in Association with ISCCM, Bareilly Chapter organized the 5th North Zone Critical Care Conference & 1st SRMS PulmoCrit-2018 at Bareilly & Jim Corbett, Nainital on 5th – 7th October, 2018 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). The scientific proceedings started on 5th October, 2018 at SRMS IMS, Bareilly were the workshop with sessions on Acid- Base disorders, fluid and electrolytes, Imaging in ICU, ARDS. Prof. Anil Shukla, Vice Chancellor MJP Rohilkhand University Bareilly was kind enough to accept the invitation for the inauguration function held at SRMSIMS Bareilly on 5th October, 2018.

The inaugural function was preceded by Prof. (Dr.) Dhruva Chaudhary, President Elect, ISCCM and Chairman SRMS Group Shri Dev Murti Ji. The conference was held at River View resorts Jim Corbett, Nainital where dedicated sessions on Sepsis, Antibiotic Stewardship, Respiratory Medicine in Critical Care, Tropical & Fungal infections in ICU, Neuro-Trauma, Cardiac & Renal critical care, Nutrition, Obstetrics & Surgical critical care. Various faculties from all over the country were kind enough to accept our invitation to deliver their lectures in this workshop and conference.

Speakers – Dr. Rajesh Chawla, Dr. A.K. Baronia, Dr. Dhruv Chaudhary, Dr. Harsh Sapra, Dr. Lokendra Chandi, Dr. Pradeep Bhattacharya, Dr. Aditya N. Shukla ,Dr. Moied S. Ahmad, Dr. Deepak Govil, Dr. (Col.) Monish Nakra, Dr. Vinod Singh, Dr. Rajesh Mishra, Dr. Rajesh Pande, Dr. Atul Kulkarni, Dr. Ashit Hedge and Many more. The conference was attended by 36 National Faculty, 46 Regional Faculty, 250 delegates including PG students of various disciplines from different part of the country. The Postgraduate students of various Institutes presented a total of 34 posters which were evaluated by the National Faculty. The UP Medical Council awarded 12 credit hours for this academic activity.

7th SRMS Contouring Classes Workshop

Medical College (Agra), Regional Cancer Institute (Gwalior) and Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital (Allahabad) attended this workshop.This workshop is unique and only of its kind in whole India where delegates are given 10 hours of hands on training on treatment planning system. The delegates are taught to identify the normal structures and organs at risk along with concepts of GTV, CTV and PTV in various sites like Cervix, Post Op Endometrium, Rectum, Urinary Bladder and Prostate.

A live demonstration of VMAT Planning of CA Endometrium and its verification with IGRT followed by execution of the case was done to make a visual impact on the delegates. The Instructor for the course were Senior Resident Dr. Ayush Garg and Dr. Sankalp Naidu along with three Tutors Dr. Kanika Gehlaut, Dr. M. Navya and Dr. A. Srinivas Naidu. The workshop was well appreciated by delegates and the feedback was very motivating. Dr. Nadeem from Gwalior said “Gone through very good training and everything was cleared to me and I got very good knowledge, it was very good” and Dr. A. K. Arya from Agra commented “Good training, willing to complete all three sessions”.

Neonatal Ventilation Workshop- 2018

Neonatal Ventilation Workshop was held in the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology, SRMSIMS, Bareilly on 22nd December, 2018. This was the third ventilation workshop held every year in continuity.

Dr. Ashish Simalti (R&R Delhi) a renowned Intensivist, and three Neonatologists, Dr. Gaurav Kumar (Venkateshwar Hospital, New Delhi), Dr. Amlin Shukla (RML Hospital, Delhi) and Dr Ravi Adlakha from Haldwani were the learned faculties. They very lucidly conducted the workshop and updated the delegates with recent techniques, and advances made in neonatal and pediatric ventilation. They also discussed various equipments available for better care. The Workshop was attended by 55 delegates who included renowned private practitioners (Pediatricians) from Bareilly and nearby district.

The key attraction of the workshop was hands on experience to each delegate in various aspects of neonatal ventilation and graphics as well as PICC line insertion. Dr Brig PL Prasad and Dr Anita Kumari welcomed the faculties and delegates and Dr Atul Kumar, Organizing Secretary, proposed vote of thanks.

The workshop was greatly appreciated by all delegates and faculties for its contents and arrangements made and administrative arrangements.

Pediatric Update – 2017 (March 2017)

It was successfully organized by the Department of Pediatrics in collaboration with IAP Bareilly at SRMS-IMS on 4th March. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Dr Anupam Sachdeva (National President IAP). Dr PL Prasad, Organizing Chairperson, welcomed all the guests. The Chief Guest sighted the importance of patience & quality care in the field of medicine. Dr RC Purohit, Principal, SRMS-IMS & Dr Atul Agarwal, President IAP Bareilly, addressed the gathering & congratulated the organizers. Dr Surabhi Chandra, Organizing Secretary gave Vote of Thanks. Prof Anita Kumari, Organizing Co-Chairperson, conducted the Valedictory function. Speakers of national repute delivered their respective talks on topics relevant for delegates, which included 100+ registrations from private practitioners and post-graduate residents from SRMS-IMS and other medical colleges of U. P.

BLS & ACLS Provider Course

A workshop on Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (provider course) was organized by the department of critical care medicine SRMS-IMS from 3rd to 5th March 2017.

A team of ten instructors led by Dr. Vivek (Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon) held the course at SRMS-IMS, Bareilly. A total of 50 participant (from various departments – Medicine, Anaesthesia, Pulmonary Medicine, Radiotherapy, Orthopaedics and Nursing Staff) registered for the course.

BLS & ACLS provider course helped all the participants in dealing with situation of cardiac arrest due to various reasons and immediate prompt life saving measures to be taken. Also the participants learnt the initial management of patients of heart attack and stroke.

Derma Vision I – 2017 (July 2017)

On 1st July 2017, the Department of Dermatology, Venerology & leprosy Organized a Continous Dermatological Education Programme Derma Vision I – 2017 on diagnostic dermatoscopy. In this Workshop there was a gathering of about 50 delegates which included Consultants & P G Students from various cities of U.P. It was very informative & key points were imparted by the faculty Dr. Rahul Sharma.

This Workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Aditya Murti (Director Administration SRMS-IMS) Organizing Chair Person Dr. Pratik Gahalaut Organizing secretary Dr. Nitin Mishra & Patron of Rohilkand Dermatological Society Dr. V.K. Chawla. Dr. Madhur Kant Rastogi. After inauguration Sri Aditya Murti enlightened the gathering about the importance & the increasing need of Dermatology. Following this Dr Rahul Sharma from Ajmer delivered his talk on Dermatoscopy. The whole program was appreciated by one and all. There was close interaction between PG students and faculty members.

Neonatal Ventilation Workshop- 2017 (July 2017)

Department of pediatrics organized this workshop on 15th of July. Aim of the workshop was to familiarize the delegates for recent advances in neonatal ventilation and to provide hands on experience on ventilation. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Shri Aditya Murti (Director Administration SRMS-IMS). Dr. PL Prasad, organizing chairperson, welcomed all the guests.

Workshop was divided in two parts 1st session includes lectures, such as Respiratory physiology and various modes of ventilation and ventilator settings in different neonatal diseases taken by Dr. R.K. Thapar (DM Neonatology), pulmonary graphics taken by Dr. S.S. Bisht (DM Neonatology), Rapid sequence intubation by Dr. Anita Kumari (MD) and Non Invasive ventilation by Dr. Ashutosh Kumar (DM). 2nd Session were dedicated to hands on experience on ventilation. Talks and hands on experience was widely appreciated by delegates.Dr. Atul Kumar gave vote of thanks. The department of pediatrics sets another milestone in SRMS-IMS in quality education for post graduate and use of latest knowledge in patient care.

SRMS Contouring Classes (3rd Workshop) (July 2017)

A two day 3rd workshop of SRMS-IMS Contouring Classes was started on 29th July 2017. The topic was “Contouring of Thoracic malignancies”. This workshop is unique and first of its kind in the nation where the delegates have been given 12hrs of hands on training on treatment planning system. Only maximum of 10 delegated are registered for five treatment planning systems. This small group teaching facilitates more of the ‘one to one’ interaction. This workshop provided hands on experience and exposure of existing advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation therapy to participants.

XVI Annual Conference of Indian Congress of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (ICFMT-2017) (Sept. 2017)

The 16th Annual National Conference of Indian Congress of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology was held from 15th to 17th September 2017 by the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly.

The prestigious event was attended by a total of 192 delegates, including guest speakers and resource faculty from 17 states and Union Territories of the country. Eminent faculties held invigorating talks on issues of Medical Negligence and Medicolegal Practice as a part of the Pre-Conference CME. The eminent Speakers included Dr. S.K.Verma (Professor, UCMS, New Delhi), Dr. Mukesh Yadav (Principal, N.C.M.C., Panipat), Dr. A.K. Srivastava (Principal, Subharti Medical College, Meerut), Dr. Putul Mahanta (Professor, Assam Medical College and Author of varied books on Forensic Medicine and Toxicology) and Dr. Ravindar (Former Director of Forensic Science Laboratory, Delhi and Consultant for C.B.I.).

The Conference was based on the Theme “Medicolegal Practice and Crimes against Women, Children and Elderly”, seeking to spread awareness regarding the exploitation of the weaker sections of the society and the role that health care professionals can play in aiding the administration of justice to the same. The two day event saw participation by various PGs and UGs in presenting scientific papers and posters as well as senior and junior faculties participating in scientific sessions, which were run in three parallel venues.The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Anil Shukla

(Hon’ble Vice Chancellor MJP Rohilkhand University).The event also witnessed the bestowment of “Award for Excellence in Higher Education” to Shri Dev Murti (Hon’ble Chairman, Shri Ram Murti Smarak trust). A satellite session was conducted in the rich environment of Jim Corbett National Park, Ramnagar Uttarakhand on the last day of the Conference, which was preceded by an early morning jungle safari for the delegates and their accompanying persons.The appreciation towards the scientific sessions and warm hospitality was expressed by all the delegates.

First SRMS TPS Classes: Planning of Pelvic Malignancies (Sept. 2017)

A two day workshop of SRMS-IMS TPS Classes was started on 23rd September 2017. The topic was “Planning of pelvic malignancies”. The workshop aims to teach various Medical Physicist about latest radiotherapy techniques which they have brought last year.

Mr. Jitendra Nigam, Assistant Professor was course coordinator. Medical Physicists from Aligarh Muslim University-Aligarh, Shanti Mukund Hospital -Delhi and Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital -Tamil Nadu attended this workshop. This workshop is unique and first of its kind in whole India where the delegates have been given 10hrs of hands on training on treatment planning systems. The treatment planning system is a computer with latest software which is used for planning latest techniques like 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT and RapidArc.

This workshop provided hands on experience and exposure of such emerging advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation emerging advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation therapy to participants and monitoring was conducted by eminent faculty. The workshops were preceded by lectures and video presentations from our faculty. Workshop participants also discussed current guidelines and recommendation pertaining to pelvic malignancies with a focus on diffusion of new technologies into oncology practice. Evidence on the use of these technologies and potential strategies to assess the value and define optimal use of new technologies in cancer treatment were also discussed.

The department of radiotherapy has set a new milestone in SRMS-IMS of not only educating this latest technology to their P.G students but also to those Medical Physicist of different Hospitals who do not have this technology. This training will help these delegates to become aware to this latest technology so that they can bring this technology to their centres and practice.

35th UPAPICON 2017 and 4th SRMS Medicine Update (Oct. 2017)

35th Annual Conference of Association of Physician of India, UP Chapter and 4th SRMS Medicine Update was organized by Department of General Medicine, SRMSIMS Bareilly on 28th and 29th October with a Pre-Conference Symposium on 27th October 2017. The theme of the Conference was ‘Standard Care in Medicine’ and Symposium was on ‘Water and Electrolyte Balance with ABG Analysis’. It was an honour and matter of pride for the Department Of Medicine to have conducted 4th Medicine Update, last being conducted in years 2009, 2011 and 2015 under the guidance and vision of Dr. Nirmal Yadav.

Conference was organized under the headship of our guiding force Shri Dev Murti (Chairman Trust) and our very dynamic Shri Aditya Murti (Director

Administration). Dr. Nirmal Yadav was the Organizing Chairperson and Dr. Smita Gupta was the Organizing Secretary of the conference. More than 400 delegates including 100 post-graduates from all over India participated in the conference.

A rich and extensive scientific programme covering all aspects of medicine was made under the guidance of scientific Chairperson, Dr. Sharat Johri (HOD, Medicine). The conference was graced by eminent national and international faculties who shared their vast experience in their respective fields. The key speakers were Dr. PN Rao (Gastroenterologist, Asian Institute, Hyderabad), Dr. Sarita Bajaj (President RSSDI and HOD MLNMC Allahabad) , Dr. KK Gupta (HOD Medicine, BHU), Dr. Vinod Dixit (HOD, Gastroenterology, BHU), Dr. V. Saraswat (SGPGI, Lucknow) and Dr. Raj Chandrappa (Consultant, Heartland Hospital, Burmingham, UK). The prestigious Prof ML Mittal Oration was delivered by Prof Ashok Chandra (Lucknow) who talked about the importance of clinical examination.

The conference was done in collaboration with API UP Chapter Lucknow who gave us whole-hearted support. Emphasis was given to the rising problems like non alchoholic fatty Liver diseases, newer aspects of diabetes treatment, Sepsis newer guidelines, standard care of treatment of pregnant females with diabetes, heart problems, Jaundice & current topics like dengue fever, rheumatoid arthiritis, GOUT and their treatment. It was a great platform for the post-graduates to share their research work in the form of oral, interesting case and poster presentations. More than 40 posters and 35 platform presentations were done. Post-graduates also participated in two Medical Quiz.

SRMS-IMS Contouring Classes (4th Workshop) (Nov. 2017)

A two day fourth workshop of SRMS-IMS Contouring Classes was started on 25th November, 2017 held at R.R Cancer Institute, SRMS-IMS, Bareilly. The topic was “Contouring of Pelvic malignancies”. The workshop aims to teach various radiation oncologists about the latest radiotherapy techniques. Dr. Piyush Kumar, Professor & Head of Department was course Chairman and Dr. Arvind Kumar Chauhan, Associate Professor was Course coordinator. Faculty & residents from GGSMC (Faridkot) and Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital, Allahabad. attended this workshop.

This workshop is unique and first of its kind in whole India where the delegates have been given 10hrs of hands on training on treatment planning system. This workshop provided hands on experience and exposure of existing advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation therapy to participants.

The faculty for the course was Dr. Pavan Kumar (Asst. Professor), Dr. Mrinalini Verma (Asst. Professor) along with Instructor Dr. Bhavya Pratyusha Pateneedi (Senior Resident) and four Tutors Dr. Ayush Garg, Dr.Sankalp Naidu, Dr. Shubhi Agarwal and Dr. Sudeep Bisht.

A live demonstration of IMRT planning, verification with IGRT followed by execution of a pelvic malignancy case was demonstrated on second day. This training will help these delegates to become aware to this latest technology so that they can bring this technology to their centers and practice. CME – On Cancer Pain Management (Dec. 2017)

A one day CME cum hands on workshop was organized on Cancer pain management on 10th Dec. 2017 by the pain clinic, department of Anaesthesiology with the help of department of Radiotherapy in SRMS-IMS, with the massage “ AVEDANAM JEEVANAM” meaning pain free life. The aim of the workshop was to discuss modern methodology on cancer pain. Inauguration was done by our honorable Chairman, Sri Dev Murti Ji, and Chief guest, Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar, HOD palliative care AIIMS.

She insisted on conservative pain management with the game lecture on cancer pain management in paediatric patients. Prof. Neeraj Rastogi, SGPGI, elaborated role of radiotherapy in cancer pain and Prof. Amitabh Arya described role of nuclear medicine in palliative care. Prof. Sanjay Dhiraj described how to communicate ward cancer with the patient & relatives. Dr. Devendra Singh, Senior consultant, Sahara hospital, conducted 3 live cases, Superior hypogastic plexus block, Splanchnic plexus block & Lumbar sympa-thectomy block in DSA (Digital Substraction Angiography Lab) with the assistance of Dr. Richa Chandra, SRMSIMS. Dr. Mahesh Kashyap, SRMSIMS, described the techniques of these blocks. Organizing Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Juhi Saran & Prof. Dr. Piyush Kumar, felicitated the guest faculties.

Stage activities were conducted by Prof. D K Singh. The workshop was attended by the enthusiastic delegates both from the institute and the Anaesthesiologist from the city. The event was a great success as there was full cooperation of faculties from various departments, marketing team, OT technicians & ground work staff.

DRISHTICON – 2016

The mid term state conference of UPSDS (Drishticon 2016) was organized by the department of Ophthalmology, SRMSIMS on 28th and 29th May 2016 , (in collaboration with Bareilly Ophthalmic Society) , precluded by a pre conference leisure trip at ” The City of Lakes”, Nainital on 26th and 27th May 2016. This was a major academic medical event to be held in U.P. and the first one at Bareilly in the field of Ophthalmology in the last many years.

The inaugural ceremony on 28th May 2016 was graced by Chief Guest Major Gen. Bakhuni. The occasion was graced by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, Mr. Aditya Murti (Director Administration), Dr. R. C.Purohit (Principal) and Dr. Malay Chaturvedi Secretary of UPSOS, among other dignitaries.

An overwhelming response of appreciation by the delegates from all over India was received for this conference. This conference boosts off many achievements done for the first time in this city, a few being the conduction of a 3-Dimensional video session on Oculoplasty, a photo gallery to showcase Ophthalmic pictures and videos, the Ophthalmic Premier League which combined academics with fun, an elaborate live surgery session and exhaustive clinical lectures.

An award paper and poster session was also conducted for Residents, much emphasis was made on basic knowledge, elaborate trade exhibition and a Wet lab for Phaco was also conducted. Last but nit the least excellent hospitality, cultural events and meals were also a part of Drishticon 2016 and was well appreciated by the delegates.

2nd SRMSIMS hands On Sinus Surgery Course and Lateral Skull Base Workshop

The 2nd Hands on Sinus Surgery Course was organized by Department of ENT Head and Neck surgery on 11th Nov. 2016. This was clubbed together with 34th UPAOICON (Up state ENT conference) which was organized by UP Chapter of AOI in collaboration with department of ENT Head and Neck surgery SRMSIMS on 12th & 13th Nov. 2016.

The Hands on Cadaveric Sinus Surgery Course was conducted in dissection hall Anatomy department and was attended by 8 dissectors and 16 observers. The course director was Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr. Vineet Sharma and Dr. Ashish Mehrotra were course faculty and course coordinator was Dr. Zafar Iqbal. This started with lectures & demonstration following which the delegates performed the cadaveric dissection under the guidance of department faculty.

In post lunch session there was a lateral skull base cadaveric dissection demonstrating various surgical approaches by a renounced ENT and Skull base surgeon Dr. Satish Jain from Jaipur.

The postgraduates and private practitioners who took up the course voiced that this course has become an excellent platform for learning endoscopic sinonasal and skull base surgeries. This is an important academic event of our institute and the only hands on cadaveric dissection course for sinonasal and skull base surgeries available in North India.

Gynae Endoscopy Workshop

A Gynae-endoscopy workshop was organized by Obs&Gynae Department, SRMSIMS and Bareilly Obs&Gynae society under the aegis of Federation (FOGSI) of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Socities of India, on 26th June at SRMSIMS. The very purpose of the workshop was to appraise all the practising Gynaecologists and Post-graduates to the different techniques of Gynae-endoscopic surgeries. Renowned Laparoscopic surgeon and chairperson endoscopy committee, FOGSI, Dr. BijoyNayak performed and demonstrated various live Hysterectomy and laparoscopic surgeries like Lap myomectomy, Lap Cystectomy, Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy, Hysteroscopic septal resection, Hysteroscopic myomectomy etc. About 200 Delegates attended the workshop and got benefitted. Feedback from various delegates was very positive and encouraging.

IAPSMCON UP & UK-2016

XIX Annual Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand Chapter “IAPSMCON UP & UK-2016” was organized by Department of Community Medicine, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly from 14th-16th October, 2016. Professor and Head Dr. S.B. Gupta was the organizing Chairperson and Associate Professor Dr. Atul Kumar Singh was the organizing Secretary for the Conference.

The event commenced with two Preconference CMEs “Innovations in Prevention and Control of Childhood Malnutrition” and “Data Handling in SPSS software” which were attended by about 125 delegates. The key speakers in ‘Childhood Malnutrition’ were Dr. Harivansh Chopra, Professor Dept of Community Medicine, LLRM, Meerut and representatives from UNICEF. Dr. Richa S. Pandey, Nutrition specialist, Ms Anamika Chandra, Consultant and Ms Shradha Pant. The Prominent speakers in workshop on ‘Data handling’ were Dr. J. V. Dixit, Mr. Abhishek Gupta from SRMS-CET and Mrs. Upasana Gupta from LBSIM.The theme for the conference was “Infancy to Childhood-Care for Survival and Beyond”.

Prasad Oration was delivered by Dr. V. K. Srivastava, Professor and Head, Hind Institute of Medical Sciences, Barabanki, Lucknow. Life time achievement award was presented to Late Prof. V. P. Shrotriya, Ex-Principal SRMS-IMS and Dr. Zulfia Khan, Professor, AMU for their outstanding contribution in the field of Public Health.

The event was graced by eminent speakers such as Dr. Kanupriya Singhal, Health Specialist-UNICEF, Dr. Rajiv Tandon from PATH Dr. S. C. Manchanda, Reputed cardiologist, Dr. Neeraj Rastogi, Professor, Department of Radiotherapy, SGPGI Lucknow, Dr. Suryakant, Chairman U.P. State task force. The conference was attended by more than 325 delegates coming from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

There were seven plenary sessions covering various aspects of public health such as newborn care, Immunization, Preventive cardiology, Preventive oncology, Vector Borne Diseases held during the conference. Conference was a great learning experience for postgraduates and faculty members to showcase their research work via Oral and poster presentation. Nine oral sessions and two poster session were held on various themes such as Child Health, Adolescent and Geriatric Health, Maternal health, Communicable diseases, Non-Communicable Diseases, Miscellaneous etc. Altogether conference was a great success with excellent scientific deliberations and warm hospitality and meals that were appreciated by delegates.

Derma Challenges-2016

Department of Dermatology, Venerology & leprosy organized a Continous Dermatological Education Programme – Derma Challenges-2016 on 11th September 2016. This CDE was inaugurated by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust, Dr. H. S. Soodan, Organizing Chair Person, Dr. Pratik Gahalaut, Organizing secretary & Dr. V. K. Chawla, Patron of Rohilkand Dermatological Society. Deliberations were delivered on “Refractory Dermatophytic Infections the Way Ahead” by Dr. Abir Saraswat & “Remedy For Topical Steroid Dependent Facial Dermatatits” by Dr. Rajiv Sharma.

CDE was attended by about 100 delegates including Consultants & PG Students from various cities of (U.P.). The esteemed faculties highlighted the information regarding difficult to treat skin conditions like fungal infections & steroid abuse in today’s current scenarios. Panel discussion saw intense cross questioning & flow of information amongst the delegates & panelists.

SRMS-IMS Contouring Classes (First Workshop)

The two day workshop of SRMS-IMS Contouring Classes was started on 12th November 2016. The topic was “Contouring of pelvic malignancies”. The workshop aims to teach various radiation oncologists about the latest radiotherapy techniques which they have brought last year. The guest faculty Dr. Shalini Singh, Add. Professor, SGPGI, Lucknow was invited for this workshop.

Dr. Piyush Kumar, Professor & Head of Department was course coordinator. Faculty and residents from S.N Medical College (Agra), AMU (Aligarh), KGMU (Lucknow), and Faridkot attended this workshop.

This workshop was unique and first of its kind in whole India where the delegates have been given 10hrs of “Hands on Training” on treatment planning systems. The treatment planning system is a computer with latest software which is used for planning latest techniques like 3DCRT, IMRT, IGRT.

This workshop provided hands on experience and exposure of such emerging advanced technologies for cancer treatment in radiation therapy to participants and monitoring was conducted by eminent faculty. The workshops were preceded by lectures and video presentations from invited faculty. Workshop participants also discussed current guidelines pertaining to pelvic malignancies with a focus on diffusion of new technologies into oncology practice. Evidence on the use of these technologies and potential strategies to assess the value and define optimal use of new technologies in cancer treatment were also discussed.

The department of radiotherapy has set a new milestone in SRMS-IMS of not only educating this latest technology to their P.G students but also to those faculty and residents of different medical colleges who do not have this technology. This training will help these delegates to become aware to this latest technology so that they can bring it to their centres & practice.

Cadaveric Workshop on LS Spine Instrumentation

The division of neurosurgery and Department of orthopedics in collaboration the Bareilly Neuro Association organized one day cadaveric workshop on LS spine instrumentation on 19th Nov. The workshop was conducted with aim of imparting training to spinal surgeons- the techniques of spinal stabilization and to discuss day to day problems encountered in spinal instrumentation.

The chief faculties invited were Prof Dr A. K. Singh, Director -MAX institute of Neurosciences, Dehradun and Dr A. K. Shrivastava, Associate Professor, Neurosurgery, SGPGI, Lucknow. The Activity started with orientation talk on surgical and radiological anatomy of spine. This was followed by cadaveric workshop in which faculties demonstrated different surgical techniques to participants and introduced them to finner aspects of surgical intricacies.

It is worth mentioning that though workshops are now increasingly common, this was first of its kind where all the workstations were equipped with Image Intensifier so as to provide the delegates an experience akin to Live surgery and reflects on the unconditional commitment of institution for quality training.

Post lunch session was dedicated to didactic lectures on various spine related issues and participants were encouraged to share their experience and dilemmas for better understanding of subject.

Earlier during the day, Workshop Inauguration Ceremony was presided over by Shri Aditya Murti, Director Administration of SRMS-IMS. Welcoming the delegates, Organizing Secretary Dr. Shashank Sah introduced the guest faculties and emphasized on importance of practical workshops & process of continuous learning. Event was formally inaugurated by Lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. Prof. R. C. Purohit, Principal SRMS-IMS also addressed the gathering while the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Kumar Ashish.

The workshop was attended by the enthusiastic delegates, neurosurgeons & orthopaedicians both from Bareilly as well as many townships of UP , UK and Delhi. The event was a great success because of whole hearted participation of faculties from various departments, MBBS students, marketing team, OT technicians and ground work staff.

23rd Annual conference of UP chapter of Anatomical Society of India and CME was organized by the Department of Anatomy, SRMS IMS on 17th and 18th September 2015.A total number of 128 delegated attended the conference from U.P. and adjoining states. 55 scientific papers were presented.

INFERTILITY UPDATE 2015

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology organized a CME on “Infertility Update 2015” under aegis of Indian Fertility Society on 22nd March 2015, which was well attended by 200 delegates from all over country.

The Department also organized a workshop on Contraception dated 21.01.16 for upgradation of paramedical staff and attended by 80 delegates.

ANESTHESIA

ACLS/BLS training and “CODE BLUE” programs have been organized by the department Medical Education Unit. The MEU successfully conducted the first BASIC COURSE WORKSHOP in Medical Education Technologies in April 2015. This was attended by 20 faculty members from the Institute.

DERMAPATH PRIMER 2015

The department of Dermatology has organized a one day CDE (Continuing Dermatological Education) DERMAPATH PRIMER 2015. This was attended by around hundred delegates from Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand states.

Uparoi-2014

26th annual conference of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India“ UP chapter was organised by Department of Radiotherapy, R. R. Cancer Institute and Research Center, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly. The theme of the conference was Update on Breast and Cervix Malignancies.The scientific schedule was divided into 6 sessions consisting of 18 lectures, 2 panel discussions and B N Lal Oration. The prestigious B N Lal Oration was given by Dr. K. J. Maria Das, faculty and senior medical physicist from SGPGIMS, Lucknow on the topic Towards Quality Assured Radiotherapy Experience Over Two Decades.

Critical care medicine department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly in collaboration of ISCCM, Bareilly, had organized a CME on “Critical Care Changing Trends-2013″ on 11- 12th may 2013 at Jim Corbett, Nainital.
Many eminent National speakers spoke extensively on recent advances in various critical care aspects like sepsis, infections, mechanical ventilation, poisoning, nutrition etc. This CME attended by more than one hundred delegates with an interest in critical care and emergency medicine from all over the UP And Uttarakhand.
On the first day they were two sessions where the eminent speakers delivered their deliberations on resent issues of Ideal resuscitation fluid (Dr. A. N. Shukla), Antibiotic resistance (Dr. Rajesh Pande), Fungal infection in critically ill patients (Dr. Sauren Panja), Septic shock (Dr. Deepak Talwar), Thrombo-prophylaxis in ICU (Dr. D. K. Singh) and ARDS (Dr. Rajesh Chawla).
On the second day the latest trends on Acute coronary syndrome (Dr. Deep Pant), Haemorrhagic stroke (Dr. Shashank Sah), Community acquired pneumonia (Dr. Veerottam Tomar), NIV (Dr. Rajesh Chawla) and Celphos Poisoning (Dr. Nirmal Yadav) were discussed.
Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty workshop was held on 8th September,2013 (Sunday) under the Aegis of Bareilly Orthopaedic Association & Shri Ram Murti Smarak, Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly. The Guest faculties were Dr. Rajeev Verma (Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon), Dr. Saurabh Moda (Rockland Hospital, New Delhi) and Dr. Utkal Gupta (SRMSIMS, Bareilly). The topics included were Biomechanics in T.K.R., Primary and Complete T.K.R. Workshop was attended around 125 doctors form Bareilly & surrounding districts of UP & UK.
Workshop included 2 live surgeries (T.K.R.) with Inter-active session. & Hands on Bone Model-was conducted by Dr. Saurabh Moda & Dr. Arvind Kumar Agarwal. The workshop was conducted under the leadership of Dr. (Maj. Gen.) V.P. Pathania (Organising Chairman), VSM, Professor & Head, Department of Orthopaedics, SRMSIMS and Dr. S.K. Kaushik (Oragnising Secretary), Asstt. Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, SRMSIMS.
The Vth North Zone Conference of Association of Otolaryngologists of India (NZAOICON 2012) was organized by the Dept. of ENT & Head and Neck Surgery in collaboration with Bareilly chapter of AOI at SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly on 1st & 2nd December 2012.
The prominent guest faculty member were Dr Ashok Gupta (PGI Candigarh), Dr. Saurabh Varshney (Dehradun), Dr. N.K Mohindroo (Shimla), Dr. (Lt.Gen) SS Panwar(Lucknow) Dr. Meghanand (Hyderabad), Dr. Rama lingam & Dr. Anil Monga, (New Delhi), Dr. Bachi T Hathiram and Dr. Vicky Khattar, Mumbai.
The two day program included live surgical workshop, guest lectures, panel discussions, orations and quiz. The live surgery was demonstrated in morning session on both days. Live surgical demonstration of orbital decompression in a dysthyroidorbitpathy, techniques of FESS and stapes surgery was carried out. This was attended by more than 150 delegates from North India.
There were 22 lectures from senior faculty and 33 free paper presentation by the Post graduate students. In addition two orations were delivered along with panel discussion and poster presentations.
An international conference Medicine Update 2011 was organized with a theme Newer Concepts in Medicine by the Medicine Department, SRMSIMS from 30 th Sept to 2 nd Oct 2011. The aim of the conference was to get acquainted with newer concepts regarding diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. The conference was well attended by international and national faculty of repute. Several workshops were also organized as part of the conference to provide hands on training. The highlight of the conference was paper presentation by undergraduate and post graduate students of many institutes and a quiz contest for students.

Department of Pulmonary Medicine, SRMSIMS, Bareilly organized the First State Chapter of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine – UP Uttrakhand Criticare-2010 on 11th & 12th December 2010 at Nainital. The main conference was preceded by hands-on-workshops on Airway Management and Mechanical Ventilation which were well attended by more than 100 delegates. Around 230 doctors and Post Graduate students participated in this academic event. More than 50 speakers of National and International repute discussed about the recent advances in the field of intensive care.
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology alongwith Bareilly Chapter of Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of India organized a Workshop on Colposcopy as a part of 22nd Annual Conference of UP Chapter (UPCON-OBSGYN 2010) on 3rd Dec. 2010 at SRMSIMS, Bareilly. The special faculties were two renowned colposcopists Prof. Dr. S.K. Das from Delhi and Dr. Sudha Nigam from Lucknow. The Post Inaugural Scientific proceedings included two interactive sessions- a series of didactic lectures and live demonstration of colposcopic techniques in diagnosis and management of precancerous lesions of cervix.
An International Conference Medicine Update 2009 with the theme of Medicine Advancements in last 10 years: was organized by the Department of General Medicine of the Institute from 2nd to 4th October 2009. The multi disciplinary sessions of critical care, intensive cardiac care, airway management mechanical ventilation, echocardiography, nephrology, endocrinology, dialysis and infectious diseases made the conference overflowing with scientific discussions. The conference was attended by more than 500 delegates who came from all parts of the country.
In observance of Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Medical Council of India, a Symposium on ‘Future Doctors & Medical Education – Issues & Challenges’ was organized in the campus on 24th February 2009. A number of speakers around the country participated in the Symposium and shared their views regarding the future education of medical students.MBBS students took active participation in the discussion.
An ‘Arthroscopy Workshop’ was organized by the Department of Orthopedics of SRMSIMS on 22nd February 2009 in which a series of Lectures and Operative Session were incorporated about Arthroscopic Double Bundle ACL Reconstruction, Anatomy – Shoulder & Knee, Imaging of Shoulder & Knee, Live Surgery Arthroscopic ACL.

The Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine of SRMSIMS organized a multi-disciplinary Conference with a special emphasis on ‘Pulmonary & Critical Care Update-2008′ on 23rd & 24th Feb.08.Renowned National Faculty of the World fame shared their immense knowledge and experience in pulmonary diseases and critical care management. The conference was helpful for all the participants to update their knowledge and improve their skills for better medical care & management of the patients in Intensive Cardiac Unit and Critical Care Unit. 476 delegates from all over the country participated in the conference.
A hands on workshop on endoscopic aesthetic surgery was organized on 3 rd -4 th Dec. in 2002 by the dept. of Plastic, Cosmetic and Micro surgery. The aim was to demonstrate the Endoscopic Minimal Access Aesthetic Surgery which was gaining popularity and becoming an essential technique for plastic surgeons.
