The Department of Optometry at SRMS Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IPS), Bareilly organized an enriching seminar on ‘Applications of Psychology in the field of Optometry & Career Opportunities in Optometry’ that was delivered by Guest Speakers Dr Ashish Dhar Dwivedi, Founder & Director of Glorious Vision Academy, Prayagraj, UP as well as Specialist in Health Psychology & Muneez Raza, HOD, Dept of Optometry, IIMT Meerut—both an Alumni of SRMS IPS.
The seminar began with welcome addressby Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Principal SRMS IPS, wherein she appreciated the efforts of Optometry department & urged students to maximize their learning & capabilities through the session. She further motivated them to move towards holistic goal to achieve success. Thereafter, Guest of Honor, Dr Neelima Mehrotra, Dean PG & HOD, Department of Ophthalmology at SRMS IMSshed light on various types of contact lenses including progressive lenses & emphasized on importance of Synoptophore as a diagnostic & therapeutic tool. She enlightened students about the most suitable spectacles to enhance patients’ vision & quality of life.
In an informative session, Dr Ashish Dhar Dwivedi enlightened students on the ways of dealing with patients & their perspectives. He stressed upon the significance of body language that’s essential to build patient’s trust, which can further be helpful towards their emotional well-being. He also organized various engaging activities/competitions for the students. Soon after, Muneez Raza spoke on career opportunities in optometry and expectations of hiring bodies. He shared useful strategies related to knowledge & information. Towards the end, vote of thanks was delivered by Zilyana Ameer, a student of BOptom (Batch 2021). Dr Shipra Tripathi, Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology; Sukhdev Singh, In-charge, Department of Optometry were also present.
