The Department of Physiotherapy at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Paramedical Sciences (SRMSIPS), Bareilly organized a Guest Lecture on the topic ‘Cupping Therapy’ for the students of Physiotherapy on February 25, 2023. The Special Guest and Key Note Speaker was Dr Nazdain Ansari (PT), an Alumnus of SRMS IPS, who is certified with International Post Graduate certificate in Cupping and Hijama.
The program kicked-off with the welcoming of the guest lecturer with a plant sapling by Dr Ashish Chauhan, Vice Principal (PT) SRMS IPS, in the gracious presence of Dr Nabeela Khanam (PT), Physiotherapy In-charge, and all faculty members included Dr Chitrangada Modi (PT), Dr Hina Siddiqui (PT), Dr Manisha Gupta (PT), Dr Shivank Chaudhary (PT), Dr Sachin Kannujiya (PT) and Dr Arjun Singh (PT). During his special address, Dr Nazdain Ansari explained the term Cupping Therapy and how it’s the most effective method in which the therapist puts special cups on the skin to create suction. He further spoke about the various techniques used in cupping therapy, and pointed out the ways in which it can help the body.
The lecture ended with a practical demonstration during which the students gained in-depth knowledge of dry cupping therapy techniques. Later on, one of the BPT students, Sheetal Rawat of Batch 2019 who attended the lecture said, “It was an informative session that provided us with some knowledge, training, and experience to give the best possible treatment to our future patients.”
