The Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques (MLT) at SRMS Institute of Paramedical Sciences (SRMSIPS), Bareilly organized a guest lecture on the topic ‘Nucleic Acid Metabolism’ recently that was delivered by the Keynote Speaker, DR SANJAY BHATT, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry at Maharshi Devraha Baba Medical College, Deoria, Bareilly. The MOC of the event was Kritika Pandey, Vice President, Vibrant club, SRMS IPS.
The event commenced on an auspicious note as the esteemed guest was warmly greeted with a plant sapling presented by Dr Ashish Chauhan (PT), Vice Principal SRMS IPS, in the presence of Dharmendra Gusain, In charge, Dept of MLT, SRMS IPS; Javed Siddiqui, Chief Proctor SRMS IPS along with other faculty members and students of BMLT. During the session, Dr Sanjay Bhatt gave an overview on the replication of DNA and RNA. He discussed its process and metabolism inside our body with particular emphasis on purine and pyrimidine salvage and degradative pathways, and their relevance to animal health and disease. He also explained about the stages of acid metabolism and the cellular demands of nucleotide biosynthesis, their metabolic pathways and mechanisms of regulation during the cell cycle. At the end, Dr Sanjay Bhatt motivated students by sharing his practical experience and several challenges faced in clinical practices.
