‘White Coat Ceremony’ of MBBS 2022 Batch

Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly conducted a prestigious ‘White Coat Ceremony’ for the students of MBBS 2022 batch on December 13, 2022, wherein the whole batch of students were distributed with white coats, and took Charaka Shapath (Oath), signifying their entrance into the medical profession.
The joyous occasion was inaugurated and graced by Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust; Aditya Murti, Director Administration; Dr SB Gupta, Principal SRMS IMS; Dr Rohit Sharma, Dean PG; Dr Neelima Mehrotra, Dean UG; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent; Dr Rajeev Tandon, Chief Proctor; Dr Kranti, Dean Students Welfare and HODs of various departments, faculty members and students.
The event began with the lamp lighting by the dignitaries, wherein Saraswati Vandana and Sansthan Geet was recited by choir group of SRMS IMS.
Thereafter, Dr SB Gupta addressed the doctors-to-be, and said, “I congratulate the students on their achievement in being selected as medical students. This White Coat is your second skin, and SRMS IMS is your second home. However, your commitment, as student doctors, is to stay proficient in the science and technique of medicine, and also to the human obligations of being a doctor, and caring for patients. The White Coat ceremony fosters a sense of commitment, dedication and sincerity towards the profession, with an ultimate goal of caring for the patient.”
Soon after, Shri Dev Murti illuminated everyone with his encouraging and motivating words, and said, “Cracking the Neat exam and becoming a doctor are two separate challenges, and one must strive hard to excel in their profession. The White Coat ceremony is the beginning of your medical career, and you all must take each day as an opportunity. As budding doctors, you must emphasize upon the importance of the human side of medicine, and integrating it into the science and technology of medical practice.” Adding further, he highlighted upon the importance of conceptual and logical thinking; taking concrete actions; having an aim, desire and craving to achieve your goals; time management; facing challenges; possessing boldness, confidence, knowledge and common sense; showing commitment, dedication and honesty; grabbing opportunities; willingness to take risk; working with perfection; having leadership qualities; spreading happiness; attaining victory; believing in God and respecting your parents and elders, which were the essential take-away from his words of wisdom.
Joining the brigade, Dr Neelima Mehrotra gave vote of thanks in the end, and said, “We are blessed to have Shri Dev Murti as the Head of the SRMS family, who is a man with great vision and dedication; and Aditya Murti as its backbone, who is a go-getter and turns impossible into reality.”
Later, the winners of talent hunt competition in several extra-curricular activities were awarded with mementos and certificates of appreciation.
