SRMS COLLEGE OF NURSING SPREADS HOPE, NOT MYTHS on WORLD HEPATITIS DAY

  • Hepatitis Hits Silently; Awareness Shouldn’t and When Awareness Walks into a Village Street, Lives Change…
  • Get tested. Get vaccinated. Break the silence before it breaks you.

On World Hepatitis Day, SRMS College of Nursing, Bareilly, in collaboration with the Medical-Surgical Nursing Department, took health education beyond classrooms and hospitals, straight to the heart of the community. A powerful street play at Dhaura Tanda’s Community Health Centre, in Sahu Thakur Das Inter College became the medium, and saving lives through awareness became the message.

In line with this year’s WHO theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down”, BSc (2nd semester) and GNM (2nd year) nursing students put up an eye-opening performance that tackled myths, misinformation, and neglect head-on. Their performances decoded what Hepatitis really is, a silent but dangerous disease, often dismissed as weakness, fatigue, or a passing fever. Students explained symptoms like nausea, jaundice, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain with empathy and urgency, urging the public to not ignore the signs. From causes to prevention, vaccination, and early testing, the performance laid out simple but life-saving steps. The human touch of the act played out on real soil in front of real people, resonated deeply. It didn’t just inform; it connected, inspired, and sparked crucial conversations around a disease that often goes undetected until too late.
