TOASTMASTERS @ SRMS IBS: SETTING ALIGHT, THE PASSION FOR SPEAKING!

SRMS IBS organized the ‘Toastmasters Orientation’ session on Friday, 28th March, 2025. Opening the floodgates of information on effective public speaking that held utmost significance for all the stakeholders of higher education, the session – for long, identified as one to transform careers – had a lot of expectations leading up to the day.

The designated MC for the session, Ms. Shipra Sharma, Assistant Professor, SRMS IBS, in her own inimitable style, set the context with a beautiful welcome note and swiftly made a move for lamp-lighting and reverence to Maa Saraswati by requesting the guest speakers from Toastmasters; Administrative In-charge, SRMS IBS, Mr. Asit Gahalaut; and Ms. Tanu Dubey, Assistant Professor, SRMS IBS to do the honours.

Further navigating the session deftly, bit by bit, Shipra Ma’am, invited the BBA students for the soulful rendition of the SRMS Trust’s Sansthan Geet. Post that, Ma’am outlined the pioneering role played by Toastmasters in shaping personalities through public speaking and introduced the three guest speakers from Toastmasters – Mr. Asankhya Mohan, Mr. Devang Pandey, and Mr. Saapan Saahibi to a thunderous applause from the audience that included faculty members and students across all courses.

Insights on Prepared Speeches, Table Topics, and Evaluation Session with constructive feedback were emphasized greatly by the speakers. Interactions with the students were a major highlight of the session.

Acknowledging the insights and their impact on the audience, Shipra Ma’am thanked the speakers by nicely summing up, the key takeaways – Enhanced understanding of public speaking and leadership; Importance of practice, feedback and structured learning; and Encouragement to join Toastmasters and improve communication skills. As a token of gratitude and affection, saplings were given to the guests by Mr. Asit Gahalaut and Ms. Tanu Dubey.

Lastly, the proceedings were wrapped up by a vote of thanks from Mr. Sarvesh Pandey, Assistant professor, SRMS IBS. A group photograph of the speakers with the faculty members and the students provided a lasting memory of a session that is sure to reverberate for long.
