SRMS PARAMEDICAL STUDENTS RAISE AWARENESS ON ORGAN DONATION THROUGH IMPACTFUL STREET PLAY & KAVI SAMMELAN

In an effort to emphasize the significance of organ donation & dispel related myths, SHRI RAM MURTI SMARAK Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly , dedicated the months of July and August towards inspiring people to become organ donors. To mark National Organ Donation Month along with National Organ Donation Day(August 3), SRMS IMS organized ‘Kavi Sammelan’ and Street Plays, witnessing enthusiastic participation of SRMS Institute of Paramedical Sciences students.

The street plays, coordinated by Vibrant Club of SRMS IPS, sensitized the community as well as attendees towards increasing consciousness & social transformation. The first play focused on Kidney Donation, enacted by Vaishnavi (BRIT); Manya & Faiz (BOTT); Yogesh, Unzila, Riya, Ziya, Shravan, Nazim & Naveen (BPT). However, the second play was based on Cornea Transplantation, which was performed by BOPTOM students—Rajat, Umbul, Raj, Lavi, Nimrit & Mahenoor, Diya, Asifa, Zilliyana, Vedika & Ankita.

Thereafter, ‘Kavi Sammelan’ — a Poetry show on ‘Organ Donation’ was held, wherein students shared engaging poems, highlighting the life-saving impact of donating organs. Each participant delivered a powerful message in their unique ways of recitation. Later, winners were announced, wherein Sameer, a BPT student from SRMS IPS, Batch 2022 clinched second prize. Kavi Sammelan was adjudged by Dr Indu Pardal; Dr Huma Khan Professor & HOD,, Department of Community Medicine; Dr Smita Gupta, Professor & HOD , Department of General Medicine & Dr Milan Jaiswal, Professor & HOD, Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine.
