On 9 September SRMS IBS organized a guest lecture on ‘Performance Management System’ for PGDM students. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Ikram Khan who is currently Deputy General Manager, Human Resources at Rohit Surfactants Pvt Limited (RSPL), makers of Ghari Detergents, Xpert Dishwash Soap, Venus Soap, Namaste India Milk Products, and Red Chief Shoes. He is a certified human resource professional from XLRI, Jamshedpur.

The session started with students taking a personality test to introduce themselves to themselves. Mr. Khan then explained how the performance management system is established, its role, and risks and errors that can occur in measuring performance. He added that the performance management tool is now more of a development tool than a classification tool as it aims to create less of comparison and more development.

He shared with students how the performance plan at RSPL follows a structure where organization objectives are defined first, which are then broken down into functional objectives, which are further broken down into individual objectives. These individual objectives are broken down into key result areas (KRAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) which form the basis of Mid Term Review and the Final Review. The lecture constituted a grand learning experience for everyone as it revealed how every organization needs a strategy and techniques to measure performance. The lecture session concluded with an engaging Question and Answer session, with Mr. Khan responding to queries with explanations and supporting examples.
