In a bid to offer its students an insight into the real life corporate world, SRMS IBS had organized an industrial visit to Ashok Leyland plant based in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. On 9th of Feb management aspirants from the B School headed to the facility of one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturers in India. The trip offered them immense exposure as they learned about different aspects of functioning in a top organization.
The visit was carefully planned to ensure that it offered students in-depth understanding of different activities related to marketing, financing and human resources. Right at the onset, they were offered a general introduction to the company and its products. A tour of the shop floor gave them an idea about the operations and steps taken by the company to boost productivity. Going through the different processes helped them relate classroom concepts to practical scenarios.
Management aspirants from SRMS IBS were keen on knowing how a leading vehicle manufacturing company manages its workflow as well as employees. Ashok Leyland hasn’t only pioneered many technological advances in the automobile industry but has set the benchmark for environmentally friendly measures as well. It was an important lesson for students as they learned about going green and employee welfare without compromising on product quality.
Overall, the industrial visit was fruitful in helping students understand the latest trends in the automobile industry. The day’s proceedings were rounded up with an interactive session with Mr. Sunil, Deputy HR manager with the company. He not only shed light on different operations and initiatives taken by the organization, but also answered students’ queries. It made the visit truly enriching for future managers.
