Management, Faculty and Students of Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Nursing, Bareilly organized a ‘Lamp Lighting & Oath Ceremony’ of 17th Batch of GNM and 6th Batch of B Sc Nursing Students on January 14th, 2023 at Auditorium, SRMS College of Nursing, Bareilly.
Brigadier Jaswinder Singh, Commandant Military Hospital, Bareilly was the Chief Guest of the occasion. The dignitaries who graced the auspicious occasion were Shri Dev Murti, Chairman, Founder & Managing Trustee, SRMS Trust; Aditya Murti, Secretary SRMS Trust; Lt Col G Anandi, Deputy Principal Matron, Military Hospital Bareilly; Dr RP Singh, Medical Superintendent, SRMS IMS Bareilly; Lt Col Elivamma, VJ Chief Matron and Professor Rintu Chaturvedi, Principal SRMS College of Nursing Bareilly, who inaugurated the event with ‘deep prajawalan’ and delivered special addresses and words of wisdom. The event also witnessed the presence of various HODs, Principals’ and faculty members of sister organization, invitees, parents and students.
The event kicked-off with a welcome address by Professor Rintu Chaturvedi, which was followed by candle lighting and capping ceremony of B Sc Nursing and GNM students. Oath was administered by Farah Khan, Assistant Professor. During the event, Lt Col Elivamma, VJ Chief Matron shared her views on the significance of lamp lighting in nursing profession, and remembered Florence Nightingale—a lady with the lamp. Soon after this, Aditya Murti addressed the gathering saying that a nurse needs to have humanity, social service and skills. He further said, “A nurse is called as Sister, but she is not less than a mother to a patient, who cares and upbrings the patient in any situation. Around 70-80% care of the patient is processed by nursing and paramedical staff, and they are the real heroes.” Later, Chief Guest, Jaswinder Singh said, “I am happy to see the amount of dedication, hard work, determination and deliberate decision that the nursing profession has, in serving the humanity. I wish each one of you good luck and may you keep upgrading your skills from SRMS Institution, and keep abreast with the technology.” This was followed by Shri Dev Murti’s valuable address, wherein he showered blessings upon the students and said, “It’s the nurse who stays the most with the patient, and the recovery of patient depends on the care and service being offered by the nurse, which goes beyond the doctor.”
Later, scholarships worth Rs 3, 70,000 were awarded to all the scholarship holders from GNM and B Sc and M Sc Nursing by Chairman SRMS Trust, Chief Guest and Trust Secretary respectively. Vote of thanks was given by Professor Aneesh Chandran, Vice Principal, SRMS College of Nursing. The event was well hosted by the students of B Sc Nursing,Soumya Shrivastava andPresha Maria.
