To give its students an opportunity to gain insight into how an industry functions, Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering & Technology, Bareilly organized an industrial visit on 22nd February to Rosa Thermal Power Plant, Rosa, Shahjahnpur, a venture of Reliance Industries.
62 students of the Mechanical Engineering 2014 batch, along with two faculty members Ms. Swapna Singh and Mr. Ashish Kumar, were hosted by Mr. Chadrashekhar at Rosa Thermal Power Plant.
A presentation was given on the operating parameters of the plant. It covered the generating capacity of the plant, which is 1200MW with 4x300MW generating units. Students also learned that the plant has a share of 10-11% in the total demand of Uttar Pradesh state – this gave them a clear idea of how the plant’s generating capabilities have a real-world effect on the surrounding cities.
For more insight, students were divided into four groups for the plant visit. They visited the Boiler, Turbine and Generator sections along with several offsite sections of the plant. It was an enriching experience for students and faculty members as well.
The session concluded after a round of queries from the students.
