SRMS ENGINEERING STUDENTS CAME FIRST IN `UP Police Hackathon Event 2022’

A National Level Hackathon was organized by the UP Police titled ‘UP Police Hackathon Event 2022’ in association with Tech Mahindra Defense Academy recently. It was an event open to different colleges of Bareilly including college students and job professionals, wherein the team of SRMS CET Bareilly added another feather to its cap by grabbing the first prize of Rs 50,000 along with a winning certificate by UP Police.
In the Hackathon, four various Problem Statements namely Railways enforcement, Harnessing of CCTV cameras installed at public/semi public/ private spaces, Implementation of phonetic searching CCTNS in FIR and Crowd Counting were assigned to the various teams of participants and they were supposed to propose solutions to it. After going through two grueling evaluation stages and presentations of executable model demonstration and question-answer sessions with experts, the team of CS final year students of 2019 batch from SRMS CET including Mridul Shinghal, Mahak Agarwal, Parun Sahni and Anchal Jain stood first in ‘Crowd Counting’ receiving Rs. 50,000 cash prize and winning certificate from UP Police. For this, the students’ team had applied AI and ML technology to address the crowd management problem, which would assist UP Police officers in managing the crowd at any place. The team of students worked under the mentorship of Dr Saurabh Gupta, Professor at Faculty of Management Sciences MBA Department at SRMS CET Bareilly. On achieving this fete, Dr Prabhakar Gupta, Dean Academics, SRMS CET Bareilly also congratulated the students.
Congratulating the team for their extraordinary efforts and making the institution proud, Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust said, “We are extremely hopeful that similar events in the future will continue motivating our students to work hard and provide innovative solutions to real-world problems. I wish all these students a good luck in all their future endeavors.”
