For the 16th year running, the SRMS Trust Bareilly conducted a Hindi debate competition on pressing and topical issues affecting society.Participation was enthusiastic and the competition was intense, as would be expected in a national level event.
The competition titled ‘Vaad Vivaad’ was divided into 2 groups: junior group students (up to 10+2)and students in technical, professional and medical degrees were part of the senior section.Invitees for the event included Dr.Rahul Awasthi, Prof Bareilly College (Judge junior wing), Indresh Trivedi-Judge senior wing, Dr. Usha Uppal-Judge senior wing, and Dr. Rajni Agarwal-Judge junior wing.
‘Global Warming: The major concern of the present epoch’ was the topic for the Juniors. The protagonists put up their point about the seriousness of global warming while the antagonists vehemently criticized that perspective by saying that there are many other issues which are more pressing than this.
For the Seniors, the topic was‘Can GST bring an end to tax terrorism?’The supporters of the point said that such a bill can bring about equality in the minds of people but the ones against it opposed stating that such a bill can do nothing but simply further increase the gap between the rich and poor. The students came up with the statistics and facts & figures, which impressed the jury members, and helped them earn more points.
The Junior competition was won by BBL School, Bly, while Maharaja Agrasen PG college, Bly received the prize in the Senior competition.
The event ended with a motivational address after the debate by Shri Dev Murti Ji, Chairman SRMS Trust.
