Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Nursing, Bareilly marked World Breastfeeding Week (August 1-7) with impactful activities centered on this year’s theme ‘Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All’. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and encouraged families, societies & healthcare professionals to support breastfeeding mothers.
The week-long awareness initiative began with pamphlet & flashcard competition at multi-purpose hall of Nursing College, wherein students created visually appealing pamphlets & flash cards to educate everyone on breastfeeding. Evaluated by Aneesh Chandran, Vice Principal & Parashram, Associate Professor at SRMS Nursing College, the event successfully met its objectives, fostering learning & camaraderie among the participants. However, Shruti along with Anshika & Priyanka from BSc Nursing clinched first & second positions respectively, while Muskan from GNM stood third.
Following this, a Role Play on nutritional content of breast milk along with WHO recommendations, was enacted by GNM 2nd & 3rd year students at Bhojipura’s Community Health Center (CHC) & Gynae Ward of IMS in the presence of Chief Guest Dr Satish Chaudhary, MOI, CHC, which was well-coordinated by Harshita Harbola, Assistant Professor ; Anuj Gangwar, PG Tutor & Heena, Clinical Instructor. An informative video presentation on breastfeeding by BSc Nursing students gave practical understanding to students & cleared their doubts. Later, postnatal & antenatal mothers participated in engaging Quiz Competition, where a group of mothers (Champa, Gajala, Arsala & Sakshi) won the quiz, reinforcing the college’s commitment to maternal & child health.
