The 5th World Pharmacist Day was celebrated with aplomb at SRMS CET, Bareilly in the presence of dignitaries from the Trust. Organized by Pharmquimica Club, the celebrations on the 25th of September followed the theme “From research to health care: Your pharmacist is at your service”. It paid tribute to professionals in the world of Pharmacy, who contribute to the healthcare industry in myriad forms including research and providing direct care.
Traditional lighting of the lamp started the proceedings of the day on an auspicious note. Students of Pharmacy presented Shri Dev Murti, Chairman SRMS Trust with a plant, which symbolized Green and Clean India. In his inaugural speech, he referred to Pharmacy as a vertical in healthcare system. “Pharmacists and other health care professionals need to be more concerned with continuity, integration of processes and socio-health coordination, which is an important but often forgotten role of community pharmacies,” he said.
Mr. Subhash Mehra, Trust Administrator carried forward the discussion, and emphasized the fact that Pharmacy professionals are the pillars of healthcare system along with Doctors. Dr. Lalit Singh, Director, Pharmacy focused on the actual theme of the day. According to him it reflects that pharmacists change from apothecarist to patient centered caregivers. “This role doesn’t start suddenly; the pharmacist has to work from the very beginning from development of drug molecule to its establishment as dosage form and then ultimately dealing with patients for their help,” he revealed.
The day was marked with a series of activities that added an element of surprise and fun to the proceedings. Poster Presentation, Extempore, Examensque (Case Study) and Pharma Talent Hunt were some of the events that drew an enthusiastic response from the students. Mr. Shailendra Kumar Verma, Faculty in-charge, Pharmquimica Club offered the Vote of Thanks and concluded the day’s events, which had appreciated the hard work of Pharmacists and also created memories that will be remembered for a long time.
